soon thousands will come for the capital fourth concert and the big fireworks show. molette greene joins us live now. the rain a big concern for organizers tonight. >> absolutely. all skies on the skies on this day and the two biggest must-see events, the capitol fourth concert. this is video of last night's rehearsal. the show set for 8:00 tonight. the fireworks show kicks off around 9:00 p.m. we've got a chance to talk to the national park service about the kinds of weather that could actually force them to counsel. >> what we're looking for are a combination of low visibility, high winds, heavy rain, thunder and lightning obviously. if any of those things contribute and would marr the performance or put the safety of our employees or our visitors in danger, then we'll look at postponing or delayi

after his foot was severed in a central park explosion. investigators believe it was caused by a homemade experiment left behind. our sister station is live now in lower manhattan with more details on what happened here. good morning, lori. >> reporter: good morning. 18-year-old connor golden is recovering from surgery and we're learning labor more about him this morning. his grandmother is staying that he's an musician and honor student and a member of his school chorus back in virginia. he was here in central park with two of his friends and they were climbing rocks yesterday when he stepped on a plastic bag covering homemade plastic material. that set off a blast, severing his foot. the noise which was heard blocks away had many fearing the worst. police closed off the park. the bomb squad, fbi, and police canines were brought

police say they don't believe the explosive material was a bomb or was signed to hurt anyone. it could be a homemade firework and they do believe that explosive material had been in the park for at least a day and again they are looking now for whoever may have placed it there and they are asking for the public's help but once again they don't believe that it was meant to harm anyone. back to you. >> all right. thank you. we are following a developing story overseas. 167 people were killed. sources say that a suicide bomber driving a mini bus filled with explosives targeted a busy baghdad market and shopping district right at the end of ramadan. isis has claimed responsibility for this attack. the country's prime minister is ordering new security measures in the capital. a suicide bomber was killed and two others injured in a blast earlier today near the

officials say the attacker detonated his suicide vest when security guards approached him near the parking lot of a hospital. all staff at the consulate have been accounted for. new this morning, another development in the investigation in egypt air flight 804. new reports say the bodies of plane crash victims have been recovered. there were 66 people on board that flight when it crashed into the mediterranean sea back in may. egyptian investigators are very covered both black boxes in that plane. they found evidence of smoke and heat damage. they are still working to figure out what exactly caused the crash. search continues for a man who tried to sexually assault a woman in northwest washington. he came up to the woman around 2:30 sunday morning. the woman got away before anything happened.

there was a deadly crash in the district. vincent king was killed when he crashed his car on georgia avenue saturday night. according to police, king hit a ford f-150 pickup truck on georgia avenue again and jumped the curb, hit a hydrant and overturned. the pickup truck also flipped. that driver survived. police say speed was a factor in the crash, but they are still continuing their investigation. phase three of metro's safe track program begins tomorrow. that means there will be no service on the yellow and blue lines between reagan national airport and braddock road. they are already warning riders to expect reduced service at a lot stations in virginia. crowds will soon be heading to the national mall. it's going to be a busy day filled with parades and fireworks. it won't be this empty there much longer as you look at that live

four helicopters and air crews helping to battle two while fires in central california. they provide water drops, medical evacuation and equipment transportation for crews on the ground. dozens of homes are threatened by these fires. new this morning, a united airlines flight from sydney, australia, to los angeles was forced to make an emergency landing after hitting a bird. officials say it happened shortly after take-off from sydney. the plane turned back around and landed safely a short time later. no within on board was hurt. if you are visiting the national mall this holiday, you should know about the controversy at the world war ii memorial. itat

this morning. derrick. >> reporter: well, we're here at 7th and constitution where the parade kicks off at 11:45 this morning. runs ten blocks down to 17. here's it the route. the parade starts at 11:45. ten blocks down to constitution. some of the only seating that you'll have will actually be on the steps of the archives and that is appropriate as it's the home of the declaration of independence on permanent display here. that's the document that started it all. thousands of people come down here to take a look at this parade. hundreds of bands from all over the country participate. some of them are recommended by their state governors. back here at the scene, we can see some of the roadblocks starting to set up. traffic is still moving down constitution but roadblocks are indeed in place. if you are working your way down here, you might want to find another way or work around because things are starting to shut down to get the
