>> reporter: good morning. we're here in lincoln park in northeast. this is where the rally will start about 7:15 this morning. we'll take a short walk to the capitol. we think it will go a long way to what they're calling prashl gun control legislation. the group will was inspired by the sit-ins that happened on the house floor last month. what they see as rational gun control legislation includes universal background checks for all transfers of firearms and an end to the ban on scientific research in gun violence. they also want to protect d.c.'s gun laws from what they see as congressional interference. this comes on the heels of the shooting in world. after shootings like that and after we see efforts like this, we feel this time may be different because there's some momentum. >> the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over

park. live in northeast, derrick ward, news 4. back to you. >> 5:49. a couple facing charges after a shootout with seven american soldiers. police in san antonio say the soldiers were at a park early yesterday morning when a woman gave her boyfriend a gun. police say he started shooting at those soldiers. at least one soldier fired back and hit the man in his elbow. none of the soldiers was hurt. a tragic story out of florida, a father accidentally shot and killed his 14-year-old son at a gun range. police in sarasota county say a used shell casing fell down the back of the father's shirt. when he reached brian orakpo to get it, he was still holding his gun with his finger on the trigger and he accidentally pulled it. investigators say they do not plan to charge that father. right now a food shortage in venezuela prompted protests across the country. government officials blame right wing business owners for
