front of us. it could have been you. it could have been you. it could have been you or you or you. it could have been any of us. >> this happened two weeks before castile's birthday. there has been an independent investigation ordered. meantime, in baton rouge, there will be a prayer vigil with community and faith leaders. two officers involved in the death of alton sterling had a handful of complaints against them but they had been cleared in all but one. one of those involved a shooting two years ago when a man refused to drop his gun and pointed a revolver at them. federal investigators have taken the lead in the louisiana shooting but the officers in both of these incidents have all been placed on administrative leave. this story has generated so much serious discussion, we've been reading your

d.c. >> put it down! put it down! put the [ bleep ] gun down! >> officers opened fire on sherman evans when they say he pointed a weapon at them. it turned out to be a bb gun. news4's mark segraves spoke to the officers about this video. mark? >> reporter: this video is dramatic, to say the least. it shows the tense moments leading up to the shooting as police officers pleaded with the 63-year-old man to put down his gun and shows the moments immediately after the shooting as police administered first aid and tried to stop the bleeding. today, mayor muriel bowser wants the public to see how the police conducted themselves during this incidents. the first 911 call came in around 9:22 the night of june 27th for a man waving a gun outside of

building in northeast. police believe the man waving the gun was the same man who called 911. 63-year-old sherman evans. >> our dispatchers called back that number. it's a number that appears to belong to the decedent. >> several officers pleaded with him to put down his gun. after seven minutes of the standoff, police say evans raised his arm and pointed the gun at police. video from police body cameras do not show the moment evans reportedly raised the gun. at least 15 shots can be heard at that moment. [ gunfire ] >> shots fired. >> reporter: the gun turned out to be a bb gun. >> and everyone started learning from the scene that it was not a real weapon. you could just

already feeling targeted because of its race and now people here, protesters, did remanding for several things. first, justice. they are calling for the officers responsible to be held accountable. right now, people are protesting outside asking people to honor alton sterling who was killed tuesday morning. this protest is a huge contrast compared to minnesota where philando castile was shot. his girlfriend captured the aftermath of the shooting live. she said that castile told the officers that he was carrying a licensed firearm but she was not anyway. now with the community grieving, they are demanding answers and for now both of those officers involved in both of those

police executed a search warrant here just two days ago. charged with five counts of child sex abuse, steel lured three boys ages 12, 15 and 13 offering them ice cream and popcorn. steele, known to the boys as ronnie, began to dance. one of the boys felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. she told the boys, "y'all not going anywhere." people in the neighborhood are upset. lilly has a teenage daughter and son the same age as the victims. >> she told me she never did come at him with anything like that. but i'm constantly talking to my children about that. >> reporter: the police report says steele ordered the boys to perform sexual acts with her. she told them not to

for sex but she wasn't there when he arrives. what happened next ended with murder. right now, there's a manhunt under way for two men who police say are armed and dangerous gang members. >> they are wanted for the murder of an 18-year-old man in a gaithersburg park in june. kristin wright is there live now with more on the two suspects and two arrests in this case. kristin? >> reporter: there are kids playing at this park right now, the same place where police say a man was murdered by gang members. two are still wanted. christian morales came to gaithersburg from new jersey for a landscaping job. he lived with his cousin and worked hard, we're told, until the night in june he was murdered in malcolm king park. his body found in the woods. >> he was stabbed over 40 times. >> reporter: today, montgomery county po

ms-13 murdered the man. two men are wanted tonight and they are armed and dangerous, police say. meanwhile, police have arrested v vanessa alvarado. >> vanessa lured christian to the area with the promise of sex. she did this because members of ms-13 decided they wanted to kill christian. >> reporter: police say several gang members met them at the park and asked christian to come into the woods to smoke marijuana. that's how his young life ended. >> unfortunately, he made the decision to go into the woods with them. denot come out of those woods. >> reporter: pat, coming up at 6:00, what one of the suspects told her boyfriend in jail about the murder which is critical to this case. >> kristin wright, thank you. a show of solidarity between the muslim community and montgomery county

they gathered in germantown. county leaders signed a statement reaffirming the support of the community. they are working with the muslim community to foster understanding and to prevent hate crimes. >> you are our eyes and ears, first line, eyes and ears in preventing and detecting crime. oftentimes the hate bias incidents that we speak of. it's that collaborative voice as our community, as we come together, it's that collaborative voice that will lead us to success. >> school officials are also signing today's signing ceremony pledging outreach within the montgomery county school system. a surprise in the trial of the fourth police officer charged for his role in the death of freddie gray. prosecutors dropped one of the four misconduct charges against lieutenant brian rice. no explanation was offered and

gag order prohibits commenting outside of the courthouse. so far, more than two witnesses have testified, one about police policy regarding prisoners and seat belts and the other was the medical examiner who performed gray's autopsy. gray died last year after riding in a police van and suffered a neck injury. rice is allowing a judge to decide his fate. two other officers have been acquitted of all charges and a mistrial was declared in a third case. when it's this hot, you'd almost rather not have to deal with your commute but we still had to get around today, of course. this is along the red line and it's not much cooler in some underground stations today because of a problem with the cooling system. transportation reporter adam tuss is live at dupont circle. what are people saying about this? >> report
