we'll have much more as this story continues to develop throughout the morning. they let there about an hour and a half ago but haven't held a news conference since then. we'll be checking back with them in a few minutes. at this hour, we know four suspects in the shooting have been neutralized. the last one in a stand-off with police in a parking garage in dallas. police say that person is dead. there was a manhunt for three others who were now in custody. a woman was taken into custody at the same time -- is he same parking garage, police caught two others during a traffic stop. this was a peaceful protest in dallas before the shots rang out last night. we have video of the moments when things began to fall apart. a warning, you will hear gunshots. [ gunshots ] >> you can hear in the video someone saying is someone is armed to the t. we told you five officers were killed. others are in critical condition or in surgery right now. a civilian was also hurt. >> as we reported, protesters took the streets in dallas to voice their anger and frustration over the deadly shooting of black men by white police officers. the first happened tuesday in baton rouge, louisiana. cell phone video captured two police officers, one of them shooting and killing alton sterling outside of a convenience store. they were responding to a complaint about a man threatening people with a gun. the justice department is investigating that shooting. >> wednesday, a minnesota man was shot and killed during a traffic stop. officials say philando castile was pulled over for

five police officers are dead after an ambush-style shooting during protests. 11 officers were hit by gunfire when snipers opened fire. the father of one of the injured officers spoke to our sister station in dallas ashirt time ago about this shooting. >> once she got shot, she went down and started crawling and the other guys, the other police officers got her and put her in the car. she was shot in the arm and she was shot in the abdomen. >> three suspects have been arrested. one is dead. dallas mayor mike rawlings said one civilian was hurt in the gunfire. we want to go to megan mcgrath live at the white house with more on the protests we've had here. >> reporter: certainly a lot of sadness and concern among police officers not just here in our area but across the country. their colleagues were targeted at thi

situation. now, there were protests in d.c. last night. demonstrators reacting to the recent police-involved shootings in louisiana and minnesota. protests here were peaceful. they mard down to the u.s. capitol. some did break through a police barricade overnight. one person was taken into custody for crossing a police line. more protests are scheduled for tonight. this time, in front of the department of justice. given what happened in dallas, you can imagine a lot of people will think about the fallen officers and what happened during those protests. 4:35 now. as the violence erupted in dallas, communities across the country showed their frustration with the deadly officer-involved shootings. prote

philadelphia. we're hearing as many as a dozen people may have been arrested in the impromptu gathering there. demonstrators marched downtown and blked the entrance and exits to a highway. at least 40 people were arrested in new york city last night. you can see hundreds of people marched and chanted through traffic in times square. police later ordered them to clear the roads. a peaceful protest in atlanta as hundreds of people gathered in a downtown park. some protesters pushed through police lines later in the night and caused a brief delay on area roads there. no word on any arrests. what began as a largely peaceful protest in dallas, texas, last night ended with gunfire raining down in the downtown area of dallas. what we're monitoring this morning here from the live desk are some of the tweets, what people are saying, of course, on social media, and i want to mention a couple of new pieces of video thatve

across those feeds. one of them from a dallas morning news reporter who is stationed outside the hospital there where a number of the officers, a number of the injured were taken and she's got a piece of video showing the three vans with police escorts presumably headed to the medical examiners office this morning. this from the associated press, we had heard from law enforcement officials that this started as an aerial attack, such if you will. a sniper attack. there is new video showing the ground-level gunfire. police engaging in ground-level gunfire in downtown dallas. >> it is 4:37. president obama is calling the officer-involved shootings deeply disturbing. we expect him to address the violence in dallas this morning as well. before the shootings in texas, the president had this t

breaking news if you are just joining us this morning. five police officers are dead. six others are hurt after violence in dallas overnight. >> dallas police say snipers targeted law firm during a protest -- law enforcement during a protest after the recent killings of two black men by white police officers. one suspect is dead and three others are in custody. one civilian was also hurt. one thing that we know that we'll get a lot more of today is information about the officers who were shot in dallas. as of right now, police have identified one of them who was killed. i want to show you an image of 43-year-old officer brent thompson. he joined the dallas area rapid transit as an officer back in 2009. that department said he

force. developing this morning, the state department is reopening its internal review of presumptive presidential nominee hillary clinton's private email server use. this as of department of justice completed its investigation, finding no cause to file any charges. the state department began its review back in january, they declared 22 emails from clinton's private server to be top secret but suspended its in april to avoid interfering with the fbi's inquiry. this could be a big turn in 2016. democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders is expected to endorse presumptive nominee hillary clinton next week. it's expected to happen in new hampshire on tuesday. his endorse many will come three weeks after the end of the democratic ma
