in were a number of streets that had been blocked off. this is the video a few hours ago, give you a better idea how much of a heightened alert these officers are on right now, we saw officers in tactical gear, their long guns, weapons drawn, running down the street, urgings to move back. after multiple sweeps of the area, an all clear, it was a false alarm. tonight people coming to pay their respects here at this makeshift memorial. under the mounds of flowers and cards, to police cruisers. i want you to take a listen to what one man told me about coming here today. >> did it make a difference to come here? >> absolutely. >> it's respect. it's respect. we're all family and to show my kids, this is what you do. when things like this happen. >> just a really emotional day for a lot o

driving. elliott was a member of the d.c. police department's junior police academy, police are hoping anyone who may have information on the crash will come forward. scary moments for a man in herndon. gunshots hit his house for the second time this week. he was sitting in his living room, late last night when he heard the shots. the bullets pierced the outside of his house on monahan drive. one of the bullets went through the house, he was not hurt. police confirmed to us tonight, it is the same house that was hit by a bullet on tuesday night. in that case, the bullet just missed a 9-year-old girl in her bedro bedroom. police searched the area in both incidents, but didn't find anyone. how would you like to go to the beach and have this staring back at you. the story that has a lot of you talking on the nbc washington facebook page. they're called stargazer fish.
