we're trying to roll out of south mountain headed out to hagerstown into frederick . apparently we have an accident. a car went into the back end of a tractor-trailer. we believe everything is confined to the shoulder. we've got an early big delay trying to roll on i-70 eastbound before you get into myers vil. otherwise, for now, we're very quiet. on the beltway, inner and out every loop to virginia, all thing are quiet starting thing off this monday morning. back to you. tense protests continue around the country over the shooting deaths of two black men by white police officers. in louisiana, hundreds of protesters confronted police in riot gear in the streets of baton rouge. more than 160 people were arrested over the weekend. memphis, demonstrators block a bridge. you see that he

crossed a police blockade. you see that here. no one was arrested there. alton sterling died last week in baton rouge in a recorded confrontation with two police officers. the next day, philando castile was shot and killed by a police officer during a traffic stop in minnesota. now, there were four different events in our area in response to the shootings. >> we don't mean black lives matter exclusively. we mean they matter equally. at the african-american civil war memorial, members and supporters of the black lives group rallied before they marched. meanwhile at rfk stadium in northeast, demonstrators addressed police brutality and called for change. >> justice. be held accountable. make them be held accountable, period. >> there was also a faith-based gathering at freedom plaza where hundreds of people held a prayer service and in a brooke land community leaders gathered at a local restaurant to discuss

the tragedy in dallas is bringing president obama back from his overseas trip early. former president george bush will also speak. five law enforcement officers were killed thursday night after a peaceful protest. seven other officers were hurt. at least two more of the wounded are out of the hospital this morning. and more details now about the suspect, micah johnson may have been planning a larger scale attack. police chief david brown said he had enough explosive material to do widespread damage. investigators are also trying to decipher a message johnson appears to have left in his own blood in a garage after he died during a stand-off with police. as teams of investigators trying to make sense of the facts, the dallas community is coming together through prayer and song.

february. deputies tasered her multiple times as they tried to move her. an advocacy group is demanding that all six deputies be fired. there are protests planned outside the fairfax county courthou courthouse. in the past, the deputies have been defended. here at the live desk. we're waiting for an update after a legendary guitarist collapses during a performance on stage. this is the scene. this is video. this is caught on tape. joe perry of the band aerosmith got stick. he walks behind the stage. witnesses go on to say that he collapsed behind that drum set and there was a rush of people. emergency officials called an ambulance. musician alice cooper who was also performing with perry says through a tweet that perry was in the hospital. e

also surrounded by family. all right. thank you. it is 5:06 and today a major league baseball player will be in a virginia courtroom. hector olivera is charged with saab -- assault and battery at an incident. a woman told police that he hurt her. officers say she has bruises. he plays for the atlanta braves and is currently on leave. there will be a preliminary hearing for an unimaginable murder in fairfax county. a man shot and killed his daughter and son-in-law on beverly drive in annan dale. it led to a s.w.a.t. stand-off between the suspect and police. three children were in the hospital at the time of the shooting. -- in the home, at the time of the shooting. they were not hurt. the group we the people for sensible gun laws will call on congress to pass legislation

11:00 a.m. on the north side of the white house. megan mcgrath will have a live report on the rally in a few minutes. some faith leaders will call on the d.c. council to change the city paid family leave benefits. if the proposal goes through, d.c. workers could take up to 16 weeks with pay to care for a new baby or a sick relative. it would be one of the more generous programs in the country. there are concerns expressed about the cost. so far the plan is to tax employers for the expense. turning now to the race for the white house. both presidential candidates will campaign in virginia this week. today, donald trump will speak to veterans in virginia beach. new jersey governor chris christie a potential running mate has been invited to appear with trump for that event. meanwhile, hillary clinton will campaign in northern virginia on thursday with virginia senator and potential vice-presidential pick tim kaine. no word yet on where that event will be held. with one

today. this comes after a pilot program where the county switched to a new vendor to provide cameras. a separate committee will dig deeper into the proposal to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour. if passed, the minimum wage would increase to $12.50 in 2018. $13.75 in 2019 and $15 an hour in 2020. this morning, miss america will lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at arlington national cemetery. also today at arlington, volunteers and veterans will begin restoring the cemetery's grounds. more than 400 landscaping professionals will work on those haloed grounds. a new study shows concussion rates on the rise for teenagers. doctors from the university of

41-year-old daron odom turned himself in. he faces charges of his wife jamila odom. robert crosby is in prison this morning, charge in the death of a 62-year-old woman. this happened friday in landover hills when police arrived on the scene, they found her suffering from trauma to her upper body. crosby was the neighbor. one neighbor who did want to be on camera this is an example why members of the community should watch out for each other. >> senseless, just shows us that as a community we have to be more vigilant as neighbors. >> police say the preliminary investigation shows the motive was robbery. today, fellow police officers could take the stand in the trial of lieutenant brian rice. the baltimore police officer is the highest-ranking officer to stand trial in the death of

freddie gray. gray died from a broken neck after riding in the back of a police transport van last year. two officers so far have been acquitted. one officer is called to testify in the rice case. u.s. park police are hoping the lone survivor in a deadly car crash will help them figure out what happened. the car went off the road and plunged into the potomac river right near the roosevelt bridge on sunday morning. three people were in the car. two died and one managed to escape and call police. the survivor is still in the hospital. university of maryland police are looking into a reports of a sexual assault on campus. they say a group of men approached a woman along route 1 saturday night. at least one of them grabbed her chest near fraternity row. the woman was able to get away and call 911. a campuswide alert went out to student as d.c. lawmakers get ready to break for the summer, advocates want to leave them with a few things to think
