in was actually out the terminal door there. now, you can see, all of those people have made their way through the system and we really have what i would say is a normal, a typical line here this morning at the southwest desk. so that's good news for travelers, but, boy, was it a mess earlier this morning and, of course, yesterday. take a look at what happened here in a nut shell. they had a computer glitch that caused major problems. their apps went down as well as their website. they shut down the online service and that caused huge problems. 700 flights were either delayed or cancel and they are allowing for flexible rebooking but the problem is you have all of those folks who are on those canceled flights. they are all competing for whatever available seats that are still out there. it's been difficult to rebook if you found ourself in a situation where your flight was canceled. that's what we're seeing this morning with those very

road metro station in capitol heights. two men who knew each other argued. one man pulled out a knife and stabbed the other in the chest. the suspect was taken into custody. prince george's county police are asking for your help identifying a man who was killed in an accident with a police cruiser. it happened over the week near the intersection of rigs road and university boulevard in langley park. police say the victim is an hispanic male between the ages of 20 and 25. he's 5' 6" and was wearing a black miami heat cap. two other cars nearly hit the pedestrian before the police cruiser did. if you have any information, you are asked to contact police. today, montgomery county lawmakers are going to get a better idea of whether residents are getting the best utility service for their money. they will review a study about wssc's rate increases compared to other utilities around the country. the six-month study wrapped up in june. demanding their mne

to make sure their planes would take off. megan mcgrath is monitoring the situation. how are thing right now? >> take a live look at the line behind me here. a big improvement over what we saw this morning when the line actually stretched outside the terminal. so there is improvement, but we are still seeing some problems. we are still seeing cancellations today. the latest numbers that we have are that 166 flights nationwide have been canceled for today. 16 of those were inbound flights for bwi. we've seen a number of cancellations on the board here at reagan national this morning. what's happening is all those folks need to find additional flights based on other flights and those are tough to come by because you had so many cancellations yesterday. over 700 cancellations and delays yesterday. you see a real snowball effect go through the entire station nationwide as people try to rebook. in a nut shell, they had a

computer glitch at southwest airlines that shut down online service and created problems with the app as well. 700 flights delayed and canceled. they are allowing flexible rebooking but that's if you can find a flight that isn't booked already and that's the challenge here today. we spoke to a woman who is traveling. she spent the night here at reagan national last night. hopes to get out later today. and one of big difficulties has been getting information because for a time there both the website and the app were down. >> it was kind of hard because the system was down, the app wasn't working, it was kind of hard to stay updated on what was happening, and they did help once our flight was canceled, they helped with the rebooking, but there wasn't -- >> reporter: we are seeing improvement but there still are cancellations. best advice, call ahead back to you guys in the studio. thanks, megan. to a developing story we're following in prince george's county. a
