103 in leesburg with partly sunny skies. for the evening hours, we can't rule out a shower but the focus is on the heat and humidity. 7:00, 8:00 p.m., still around 90 degrees in the mid-80s and mostly clear. i want to quickly walk you through tomorrow at noon. when you factor in the humidity feeling like temperatures are in the triple digits, about 103 in the district and 100 in gaithersburg. as we move into the midafternoon temperature, this is dangerously hot. limit your time outdoor. feeling about 106 in the district. i'll breakdown the rest of the week and what to expect sunday and talking about any thunderstorm chances coming up in the microforecast. aaron? >> amelia, thank you. it's an important reminder. as the temperatures rise, so do the risks. you want to do whatever you can to stay cool out there. in the district, cooling centers are opened across the

several area pools and water parks have extended hours. local and federal officials held a news conference at the community center in southwest. they say they are pooling their resources now to keep everybody safe. >> as we head into this weekend, the district is activating our heat emergency plan which will provide critical service to visitors who otherwise would not be able to seek relief from the heat. >> among the other services, extra ambulances will be on duty starting today and metro is providing cooling buses that will be dispatched across the city for folks who need it. we are keeping you posted with updates from storm team 4 on air and on your smartphone. you want to check out the feels like temperature in the nbc washington app.

wendy? breaking right now at 4:00, several people were injured at a popular shopping center in munich, germany. police are calling it a terror attack. at a news conference that just wrapped up, authorities are looking for three attackers with long guns. shots were fired at two locations. the first at a mcdonald's near the shopping center. more shots fired inside that mall. the u.s. state department is working with local officials in munich to see if any u.s. citizens have been impacted by this. police are urging people to avoid public places. we'll bring you any new developments as they come in. and with the republican national convention now in the rearview mirror, hillary clinton will be announcing her

the last few days. emergency crews are gearing up for the next weekend. >> david culver has the story. >> reporter: today and the next few days, a lot of us will talk about the same thing. heat. yeah, it's hot out there. here we are in firestation 9 just off of route 1 and you can see one of the things that they have are the bay doors that are closed. normally on a day like this, you would want any breeze that you can get. because of pokemon go, believe it or not, they have to keep the doors closed. and because of the uniforms that they have to wear, this is more like winter gear. right? but they have to wear this in the summer, too. it's a lot of layers, a lot of heat. eye tried it on. we'll show you how quickly you start sweating even in the shade. pretty unbearable. something else that the ems crews are carrying with them, this is chilled

a lot of eyes on donald trump's speech and 20 queries on google were either related to donald trump or ivanka trump's speeches and we saw different trends by state. the top states that searched "vote clinton" were omaha and alaska. among the most asked questions on google, what does lgbqt mean? and the second question here, how long was donald trump's speech. it was about an hour and 15 minutes, the

speech since 1996. the third question, what is nafta, and that's the north american free trade agreement and the fourth question was how old is donald trump? he's 70 years old. and where is donald trump from? the answer to that is queens, new york city. concerns about conditions at a local jail. inmates and workers say temperatures inside can reach more than 100 degrees. mark segraves traveled to st. mary's county to check out the situation firsthand. >> this is e-wing in the st. mary's county detention center. this cell right now is 85 degrees. and this is actually a cool day. the captain who oversees this facility tells us temperatures can reach 100 degrees in this part of the center because we're on the second floor where the heat rises. he's allowing the inmates to wear shorts and

first at 4:00, new york health officials are now reporting the first zika-infected baby delivered with a smaller than normal head. the new york city health department said the mother was infected in a country that has problem with zika. in addition to the smaller head, the infant has other brain and neurological problems. the development is being considered tragic but also unsurprising because of the number of people who travel in and out of new york city. well, summertime for most kids means camp time and one camp in our area is

place to make watching the game more bearable in this heat. please take advantage of that. all right. radar right now, as i said, a few isolated storms out there. those are dying off as they are moving to the south and east. not a lot behind it. into the overnight, temperatures fall into the 70s during the overnight. upper 70s overnight. it's going to be a muggy start. tomorrow morning, 80 degrees when you head out your door. it's going to feel warmer than that with the humidity and then by noon, temperatures in the low 90s. dangerously hot out there. isolated showers in the afternoon here or there. very similar to today. let me show you and we'll take you through saturday. a few pop up as a weak cold front comes through. it's not going to do anything for sunday except drop that humidity little by little. pay attention to this.

the humidity and temperature combined. saturday, it's going to feel like 100 to 108. sunday, as i said, the heat's going to be there but behind that front, the humidity drops. plenty of sunshine and then the heat index will be right around 100 degrees. that's what the air temperature is going to be. humidity pumps back in for monday. then, we're back into the heat index. between 100 and 108. we'll start to transition on tuesday. temperatures in the 90s on tuesday. another frontal system coming through on monday. a few showers and thunderstorms. monday is shaping up to be the hottest day that we can see. the temperature drops ever so slightly for tuesday and then thunderstorms as well on tuesday and temperatures, again, go down from there as we head into next weekend. and if you are heading to the nats game tonight or this weekend, as lauryn said, you want to be prepared for this heat and the team is trying to help. they will let you bring in two sealed water bottles instead of the usual one and cooling centers will be located

we're halfway through the summer vacation for the montgomery county public schools. summer vacation could shift for tens and thousands of kids there. >> the board of education will debate the plan this is november. scott macfarlane has more on the huge change to that school calendar. >> reporter: well, we are in germantown. if this proposal becomes the new policy, summer vacation does shift a fuel week for the 2017-2018 school year. kids would go back a week earlier and get out a week early. some parents and teachers have been clamoring for this since mid-may. it will get the kids better prepare for the test and out earlier after them. but all of the summer camps and parks that exist in montgomery
