con confrontation with the armed security guard. a police-involved shooting under investigation in prince george's county. this happened on shady glen terrace in capitol heights just before 10:00 last night. officers were trying to stop a suspect in a series of violent crimes. the suspect drove off and jumped out of a car with a gun. the officer shot around three times and hit the suspect in the arm. a gun was recovered from the scene there. that officer involved is now on the standard leave for investigation. the search is on for the gunman who opened fire at a basketball court near the hamilton rec center in northwest washington. the man told police he saw two people opening his backpack while he was playing on that court around 7:00 last night. when he questioned them, one pulled the gun and took off with the bag and what witnesses say was some sort of motorized bike. no one was hurt. firefighters are imploring people to eevacuate right

thousands are ignoring orders, staying home even with the spread of this wildfire. the blue cut fire in san bernardino county has burned more than 50 miles of land. it is 22% contained. there has been so many fires in california, they believe too many people are treating them as though they are routine. montgomery police are on the lookout for a missing kensington man. they say aaron watkins was last seen leaving his meredith avenue home on sunday around 9:00 in the morning. the 22-year-old uses a blue wheelchair and carrying a maroon backpack. contact police if you know anything. with nine days until the start of the school year, some bowie state university students are trying to find off campus housing. more than 300 students received notice this week they won't have anywhere to stay on campus because too many freshman were admitted. the university

and 21st. not exactly sure where the actual impact happened, where the person was struck. we have seen investigators focus in after this truck moves, week show you where we've seen investigators focus their attention since we got here a short while ago. this involved a pedestrian sometime in the 3:00 hour. we have learned the victim is a man. no other information about his age or identity or exactly why he was in this area and doing at the time when this happened. he was pronounced dead after an ambulance took him to the hospital. we don't know a whole lot about the striking vehicle sx only that it was dark in color, so of course, d.c. police out here looking for clues and hoping anyone with information, even the tiniest bit of information, could be helpful in this investigation. we're live on the scene. back to you. >> molette, thank you.

only news 4, d.c. residents are finally getting answers about crime in their neighborhood. for a year, anc commissioner denise crepe wanted to know what percentage of people arrested for robberies and burglaries actually get prosecuted. >> she filed an information request. >> the information ultimately came from senator charles grassley who chairs the senate judiciary committee. she's concerned in the increase of arrestees who are no papered which often means not prosecuted. clean-up continues on main street in ellicott city, on thursday, dozens of vehicles and hundreds of residents, merchants, and building owners returned there. it was the first of a five

education. the federal transit administration is taking action on a dedicated agency just for keeping an eye on metro. it's spending $900,000 on a permanent staff dedicated to metro oversight. according to the "washington post," the paper says experienced inspectors will be part of that staff and use what they learn on the future metro rail safety commission. this is not only a big critique of metro but also our local government. federal officials basically said in jurisdictions in maryland, d.c., and virginia have failed to find effective inspectors and investigators. amazon has launched prime now in virginia. they have 1 to 2 hour delivery. this is live in alexandria, springfield and arlington. it cost $7.99. the
