good morning. 100 and counting. team usa hits a medals milestone. ashton eaton winning gold in the decathlon to retain his title as the world's greatest athlete and jamaica's usain bolt dashes into the record books once again. and vandals not victims. overnight two of the u.s. swimmers involved in that gas station incident with ryan lochte leave rio after surveillance video proves they weren't robbed. a swimmer agreeing to donate $11,000 to get his passport back and u.s. officials issue an apology for their behavior today, friday, august 19th, 2016.

u.s. total to 100 medals, including ashton eaton, the world's greatest athlete times two, winning the decathlon yesterday. >> by the way, that's a beautiful sight from up above, isn't it? very nice. >> don't get me wrong, i am looking forward to going home, but i am going to miss it here. >> i have two words for you, whah, whah. two of the swimmers headed home overnight after speaking with police, but we still have not heard from ryan lochte. we are going to look back at what an incredible two weeks it has been, and here on our set, right? >> it really has been great. l

and check in with savannah. >> i am all smiles because you are getting to come back. a surprise from donald trump, as he did something he never does, expressing regret. savannah, thank you very much. let's talk about the scandal that continues to evolve. it involves the u.s. swimmers including ryan lochte, and their claims of being robbed have been debunked. keir simmons is at the gas station where it all happened. >> this is the gas station you are about to see in security footage. what is stunning this morning is an altercation here could turn into an international incident. as you can see, there are security cameras surrounding this gas

there was never any chance that what really happened would not come out. overnight, a deal with brazil, and the swimmer has agreed to donate $11,000 to a brazilian charity to get his passport back. >> and after giving statements to police, the brazilian lawyer taking an apparent shot at ryan lochte, and they were quiet and didn't know what was happening. and now confirming the police version of events, the gold medalists were never robbed and the evidence, investigators say, security video from early sunday, at 5:47 a.m., two swimmers seen leaving and

towards the back of the gas station near the bathrooms and a minute later the four emerge followed by a gas station employee, and concerned police say, because the swimmers vandalized the bathroom. the swimmers walked through here, and further down as you can see, an advisoriment appears to have been pulled from the wall and then the back of the rest rooms that reports say were badly damage, but we can see no sign of that now. and the swimmers return to their cab. a security guard approaches reaching out, and it's unclear if he has something in his hands. at 6:12, after a discussion, the swimmers exit the taxi. at 6:14, we see a different angle, and you can see the swimmers put their hands up and sit down and a guard approaches him with his hand on his hip. he did draw his

control of the confrontation with the four large athletes, one of whom was getting aggressive. and the guards rhett them go after they handed over $50 to pay for the bathroom damage. a very different story from the one lochte did say. >>. >> we got pulled over, and these guys came out with a police badge, no lights, no nothing, just a police badge and they pulled us over and pulled out their guns and then a guy caulked the gun and put it to my forehead. >> and sticking to his story, they were robbed. the american embarrassment. the behavior of these athletes is not acceptable nor does it represent the values of team usa or the conduct of the vast majority of its

occurs not here at the gas station but beside it at the car wash. this is where you can see in the security footage of swimmers sitting at the curbside and having a conversation with gas station officials. what the swimmers say is there was nobody there that spoke english, and brazilian officials say there was a translator and the swimmers, perhaps, didn't understand why they were being asked for money, and the brazilians say they were making it perfectly clear and perhaps all of this lost in transition. >> we can confirm that gunner advance and jack konger arrived back in the united states. also, we have spoken to jimmy tpaegen. he's has agreed to pay $11,000 in restitution. he is not in possession of his passport

>> this really hit a sensitive spot in rio, the fact that there were these robbers with badges and things like that, and how much bigger did it get because of this? >> they are rightly concerned with the image of rio as a place that leaves security, they have a legitimate issue with street crime and nobody denies that. if this would have been true, they would want the world to believe they would have aggressively pursued whoever was responsible. to besurge their reputation. >> what's the future for these swimmers particularly ryan lochte in terms of endorsement and future in the sport? what's the impact? >> he's the bold face name. the others more or less get a pass. people forget about it or say they were younger not a big deal. he's the central figure. as you said, swimmers make most of their money

york. >> we have a new report that zika may be spreading in southern florida and two more cases traced to miami beach. mo. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, savannah. the florida department of health confirms there are now 35 cases of locally acquired zika in south florida. the majority of those have been concentrated in a neighborhood in miami called wynwood but now sources are telling nbc news that the health officials strongly suspect that they have found two cases of zika here on miami beach. acquired again from local mosquitos. to get at that this morning, the mosquito control efforts on the beach have taken off with a vengeance. they are spraying insecticide and at risk not just pregnant women but also a tourism industry here valued at $24 billion. overnight an
