more storms can be ravabling the midwest, and tornadoes are in indiana and michigan this weekend. in another part of the country, flash floods claimed homes and businesses. more on that still ahead. it is the end of summer break for thousands of kids in our area and, maryland and the district and for the first time one school is opening its doors to boys open. news 4's darcy spencer reports from northeast d.c. >> we are at the ron brown college preparatory high school here in northeast washington which is set to welcome students for the very first time on monday morning. in fact thshgs is where mayor muriel bowser will hold her back to school campaign. it's the district's first

single-sex public high school and it will welcome 150 ninth grade boys from at-risk backgrounds in d.c. we can see there is still a lot of work to do inside with construction still under way and ladders. the school system says that the school is ready to open, but it is a three-year construction project. the school is opening with some controversy. the aclu has said this discriminates against at-risk girls and one member of council had questioned its legality and the d.c. attorney general has signed off on the school saying it doesn't violate any laws. the focus here at the school will be on character building and academic curiosity and service. also on monday. frederick county maryland kids head back to the classroom and prince george's county schools start on tuesday and loudoun and montgomery go back on august 29th and fairfax doesn't go back until after labor day. the mayor's
