all lanes are blocked each way in rockville. beltway is moving along just fine this morning. and annandale, lanes blocked for downed wires there. 95 south, the ramp to westbound dale city. that cleared out of the way. no more worries there. >> 4:32 now. rush hour will be a little easier in downtown washington this morning. l street between 18th and 19th will be reopened for the first time in nearly a week. last month an under ground transformer fire knocked out power to more than 100 customers. repairs should be complete by noon today. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. i'm kristin wright at the live desk where we're watching texas this morning. parts of south texas right now cleaning up after aek

was killed. douglas brooks was a rapper. he cared about reaching out to the community. >> he took his stardom and he used it in a positive way to say, hey, kid, i'm from where you are, but i'm still doing it. >> brooks performed at wpgc's birthday bash. he was shot and killed on parkway terrace drive in suitland. this morning, police are connecting a weekend hotel robbery and a homicide in clinton. this is surveillance video or pictures rather of the man whom police say shot and killed a clerk at a 7-11 on brandy wine road sunday morning. the clerk was killed during an attempted robbery. they believe the same man robbed a comfort inn after he went to the 7-11. we'll have the latest on the investigation later in the news

2016 this morning. a hearing will be held today to address a conservative legal group's lawsuit on hillary clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state. the group wabts all of her emails from 2009 and 2013. on friday, a federal judge ordered clinton to answers. donald trump is heading to ohio today. he's facing new questions over his immigration policy. his policy for dealing with undocumented immigrants may not be set in stone. trump is expected to make a policy speech on thursday. we'll have more on whether trump is walking back on his immigration policy in a few minutes. we're off to a clear start. chuck bell is updating what you can expect looking ahead to next weekend. a bizarre series of thefts, leaving drivers stranded.

he's still locked in a fight with republicans over the zika funding. governor mcall you live -- mcaulif mcauliffe will have a announcement on voting rights restorgs. gop's critics say his move was designed to help democrats in the november election. we're learning more about the shooting of an off duty firefighter in the district over the weekend. according to the police report he was shot in the left side of his face by someone on a motorcycle. this happened while he was sitting in his car with his young daughter on southern avenue in southeast. the little girl was not hurt. the firefighters union says he was airlifted to baltimore shock trauma and is expected to recover. police have not released a possible motive or any suspect information. working to find out more about the person who was found dead in the

the body was pulled from the river. police have not said who the person is or how the person died. the families displaced by the silver spring apartment explosion are making progress on finding a place to live. they are out of shelters and in temporary housing. ntsb says its investigation could take several months. seven people killed there. because of the conditions of the bodies, officials are still working to identify four of those people. there is a brand-new red light camera to watch out for. if you live in alexandria, look at this map. duke street near west taylor parkway. if it catches you, you will receive a warning for the next 30 days. after that, it's $50. the national park service is celebrating its 100th anniversary
