according to fire officials, the warehouse is storing a load of combustible materials. darcy spencer is live at the scene with the latest. darcy? >> reporter: i can tell you that the bulk of the fire is out but they have a lot of work here to do to get this cleaned up. take along kennelworth avenue and lawrence street in bladensburg. you're going to have to find an alternate route. pretty incredible cell phone video was shared with us from someone who works in this area. he was able to get there pretty quickly. the fire is burning at abc supply. it's happening in an open air loading dock. we're told the flames, fortunately, did not reach the building. we could see several employees standing out here on the

upset, seeing this fire here, as you can understand, one man told me that he's called this place his home for 21 years. there are lots of combustibles like foam and roofing materials and pallets fueling the flames. the fire is mostly out. the good news is that no one was hurt. coming up on news4 at 5:00, you'll hear from the prince george's fire chief. he will tell you the struggles they had in getting this fire under control. back to you. >> thank you, darcy. a young and up and coming rapper was murdered this weekend. >> our bureau chief tracee wilkins is outside of the police headquarters. what did you learn, tracee? >> reporter: this young man was known as swipey but his name at birth was douglas brooks. she's devastated by the loss of her son working

try to figure out what happened. sunday morning, around 1:00 in the morning, prince george's county police say that brooks was outside when he was pretty much ambushed by four to five shooter who is came in two different directions. he was shot multiple times and killed. i'm told by family members right after he was shot his younger brother ran out of the apartment building and tried to give his brother mouth-to-mouth but he died there on the sidewalk. prince george's county police are looking for the suspects responsible for this shooting. here is what brooks' mother had to say about her son and his love for music. >> he made his own name. he took his money, allowance, christmas, everything for studio time. and did what he had to do. >> reporter: she told me that her son

immediate threat to us. but as a rule, things are pretty quiet around here. >> a lot of police cars there. the good news is, no one was hurt. new at 4:00, we're waiting to hear if a gas line is working again after it was struck late this morning. washington gas turned off service to make repairs and conduct safety tests. police are in the area directing traffic around the problem. virginia governor terry mcauliffe is restoring rights to felons after the supreme court blocked his original plan which would have given rights back to over 200,000 offenders. julie carey has been following this story for month and has the developments. >> reporter: thousands anxiously watching the mailbox to see if they get the voting rights that were pulled away and will be

governor's action saying he believes in second chances, he announced a new way of restoring civil and voting rights to those who have done their time. his original plan to offer blanket rights restoration was ruled unconstitutional by the virginia supreme court last month. now the governor says some 13,000 former felons who registered to vote have had their status reviewed and will, once again, be eligible. the governor created a new process by reviewing on a case-by-case basis. coming up at 5:00, you'll hear from two men who are waiting for that all-important letter to come today. sponsorships have been pulled from ryan lochte. speedo will donate $50,000 of lochte's fee to a charity in brazil. it's the latest fallout from the

robbed at gunpoint in rio. this morning, he expressed some regret to the today's show matt lauer. >> they put on great games and my immature, intoxicated behavior tarnished that a little. >> he told lauer that he exaggerated and made a mistake and he's human and he's going to learn from this. a brand-new school is opened in the district but this one is unlike any of the public schools in the city. news4's mark segraves has the story. >> reporter: for more than 100 schools here in the district, today was the first day of classes and here at the ron brown college prep school, for more than 100 students, it's a very special day. this is a brand-new school. part of mayor bowser's new plan to empower young men of color. some questioned

good news for commuters, traffic has started moving again on 395 south in arlington. firefighters spent the afternoon cleaning up a diesel fuel leak coming from a tractor-trailer. it's all clear just in time for the evening commute. in prince george's county, police are searching for a missing 13-year-old girl. destiny was last seen on eastern avenue in hyattville last thursday evening. she's wearing a red shirt and black leggings and black shoes. if you have any information, please call the police. we're getting some new information about prince's death. some of the medication he was taking may have been mislabeled. an official says several pills that police recovered from

first at 4:00, a new call for help to stop the spread of zika. federal, state and city leaders are asking for more federal money to stop the virus from spreading through south florida. miami-dade now has zika and so far congress hasn't been able to agree on a funding package. >> mosquito, zika, it's not republican and it's not democrat. it's an issue that affects all of us. we need to come together as one and make sure we get the proper funding so we can eradicate this and get it taken care of immediately.

are dealing with about three dozen zika-related cases. and here in d.c., a postal worker has been accused of a scheme to deal marijuana. >> and it's the second time in a week we've learned about local postal workers charged with pot-related offenses. scott? >> this time it's a letter carrier from northwest d.c. his name is everick moore. his home was raided last week and 17 marijuana plants were in the basement surrounded by high-intensity lights and fans. enough to suspect that he was dealing it. no comment from his lawyer but moore now faces a federal charge. this is after a separate case surface ds. the acting manager on north capitol street in d.c. was charged with a scheme to accept

marijuana. two employees were charged, too. they have all pleaded not guilty. and the feds today asked them to hold the manager behind bars until trial. >> scott, thank you. the first career firefighter in the history of manassas is about to retire. he has been in firestations for 52 years. wade says he's witnessed lots of improvements in equipment and techniques but this favorite thing about the job is helping people. >> people need help and we show up and provide that help to them. >> tonight's city council will honor house for his service and you can expect to see him located right in his old firehouse. we're following a developing story in louisiana where residents, at least some of them, are being allowed to go back to their homes

heavy equipment is on the way to start repairs. meanwhile, defending the timing of president obama's visit to the flood-ravaged state. governor john bel edwards said he wanted to delay the trip until some of the recovery efforts started. i don't know if you felt it but i sure did it. when i walked out of my house, it felt so good and refreshing. amelia, is this going to last a little bit for us? >> it's going to last for a few days. we have been sweltering. here for two weeks, we've been 90 degrees or higher, the last 15 out of 16 days where we're in the low 80s, low humidity and plenty of sunshine. we'll take it. as we look to the middle and end of the week, we start to warm up but as far as rain is concerned, we're going to be dry for days and for the weekend, it's going to be hot. thankfully not too humid and, most importantly, looking dry. more on that in your ten-day

so far, high of 85. a repeat performance. plenty of sunshine from start to finish. during the evening, once again, spectacular 78 degrees. another night you can open up the windows. give that air a break. tuesday outlook at the bus stop, outdoor exercise, perfect whether it's in the morning or evening hours. lunch is going to be comfortable to take a break from work. dinner out, looking great. temperatures in the 80s and falling into the 70s. a good idea to get the car washed this week. we're looking at dry weather for days. if you're heading up to baltimore today or tomorrow for the games on wednesday and thursday, tom will have that forecast coming up. i want to show you the dew point temperatures. we don't talk about this a lot but we'll talk about it because it's about humidity. when the dew point is 60 or higher, we say it's muggy. we've been in the 70s. with dew points around 60, that's why it's so comfortable. that's why it's so crisp a

so this is what it looks like when the olympics are over. pretty sad, rainy, dreary day in rio. all the athletes and fans are gone. cameras caught a few people walking around the olympic park. cleaning crews are picking up the trash and debris. only a handful of people sticking it out over on copacabana beach. we'll have so many memories from these olympic games. >> of course, and one of them undoubtedly will be ryan lochte. liz

donald trump is softening his stance on immigration. meanwhile, hillary clinton is having new issues connected to that private e-mail server. steve handelsman is on capitol hill with a new developments. hey, steve. >> good evening. hillary clinton's campaign saying she has nothing to hide urging that all of the newly released e-mails be made public. but the state department is putting them out just a few at a time. so far, it's ordinary content like hillary clinton's travel plans in the first there were newly released e-mails, also, top aide passing on requests to see clinton. but the revelation that she didn't turn over thousands of e-mails has critics outraged. >> why did this take place at all? >> reporter: clinton gave investigators 30,000 e-mails. her lawyers deleted the rest from h

the ten-day outlook showing comfortable humidity again tomorrow and again on wednesday. although, a little hotter wednesday afternoon. upper 80s. and then thursday, partly cloudy and up near 90. it's going to get a little more humid but not that sweltering humidity that we had during our last heatwave. low 90s on friday. it will be a bit more humid as we get into next weekend. saturday and sunday, if you have outdoor plans, it looks good. moderate humidity. saturday and sunday, up around 90. then, going into the following week, it will heat up a little bit. perhaps that following tuesday. that's followed by another shot of lower humidity moving in towards the middle of the following week. and that is the way it looks. >> thank you, tom. a journalist and publisher george curry has died. his family says he

in the district, a new water tower. d.c. water will build a 170-foot water tower at st. elizabeth's and construction will start in the next few weeks and it will help alleviate some of the low water pressure that residents are experiencing. airport and traffic delays that swept through phoenix arizona yesterday. you couldn't see more than a couple of feet in some places and a light wind was whipping the dust around. >
