onto the tarmac at l.a.x. looking for anyway out of the terminal they could find. a loud noise mistaken for shots fired inside at least three terminals triggering a wild mass evacuation at the nation's second largest airport just before 9:00 p.m. >> why are we running? >> security said to run. >> security said to run. >> reporter: there was confusion on the ground and uncertainty in the air. >> ground, this is united 488. apparently there's an active shooting in the terminal. can you please advise us what's happening? >> reporter: the airport shutdown for more than an hour. gridlock on the road and in the sky. >> you're not going to be able to get into terminal 8. there's a situation going on there. >> reporter: our own lester holt was there arriving at l.a.x. during the incident reporting live on facebook. >> we're about to walk up the stairs and the door opened and people began

thank you. on the east coast, millions from the carolinas to the gulf coast are bracing for possible torrential downpours as the atlantic hurricane season kicks into high gear. mr. roker is here tracking it all. good morning. >> we got a lot of stuff going on right now. the season i we have a lot of stuff going on right now. the season is packing a punch. we're watching two systems that are going to affect the east coast before it's all over. gaston, tropical depression number 8 and number 9. we start north of havana, and it's 35-mile-per-hour winds and sometime thursday morning will make landfall as a possible tropical storm or hurricane. and we also have a system that is off the carolina coast, and it's going to come onshore and bring more rain, but that's just

going to brush the shoreline. then we are watching activity going on in the gulf. a little tropical wave will bring another three to five inches and there could be possible flooding throughout southeast texas. if that's not enough, we have two systems out in the pacific, hurricaneless lester, not holt, it's going to brush the big island sometime wednesday evening with 80-mile-per-hour winds and heavy rain, so both the atlantic and pacific very active right now. >> actually hurricanes are not all that common, right? >> they usually don't take direct hits. donald trump appearing to address his signature issue of immigration with a major speech in arizona this week. facing accusations he's given

confessions. when you hear that, what's your reaction? >> nothing. i already have my answer anyway. i have my answers to what happened to natalee and he's sitting in prison in peru. >> van der sloot is serving time in peru for the murder of flores who he killed in 2010 on the five-year anniversary of holloway's disappearance. any part of you that looked at his sentence in peru and said i have to consider that part of his sentence for natalee. >> no because it's not. >> at this point after 11 years what does justice look like for you? >> justice is being served for stephanie flores thank god but justice has not been served for natalee. it would be justice to see him serve prison time in the united states. that would be justice for natalee. >> reporter: van der sloot faces charges in america. he's accused of extorting money from the holloways in exchange

your blood pressure checked? >> i've not been to the doctor in two years. okay. let's not judge. i'm going to be honest. i have insurance of course. i'm one of those people i made a point of going to get my annual female exam. i've not been to the doctor in two years. i know, i know, i know. >> easy to get at home these devices. simple. here's why it's so important. number one cause of ageing is your blood pressure. this is what your artery looks like. i want you to pretend for example that you have a little diabetes, which is like glass shards. scrape that. you start to actually dig gashes in there. you see that hole you made there. this is what happens. once you get cracks in there, the body gets upset and blood pressure is a hammer. take this hammer if you don't mind. hit it right about there. >>

if you hit it here, i guess not. i had this fixed up. there it is. there. it's really bad blood pressure. once you have a hole in your artery, you have to fix it. what's the best way to fix a hole? you use plaster. unfortunately the body's plaster is something called cholesterol. you take cholesterol and slather this on there and you get not appealing material and over time it begins to look like plaque. >> that's lining your blood vessel. >> we need to cut out salt. >> pressure, stress, number one problem we find in our surveys is probably the biggest driver. being short-term stressful environment like doing the show here or exercising raises your blood pressure but long-term stress you can't get away from it doesn't cause this plaque buildup. don't want that inside of you. >> waist line and why is waist measurement so important? >> the other way of dropping your blood pressure is

your waist. hold on. there's a lot of stuff including squeezing of your kidneys which is responsible for regulating your blood pressure. your body will raise the blood pressure. men don't weigh themselves and women weigh too much. your waist size is the most accurate technique. everyone at home listen carefully. men over the age of 40, we take the belt and put it down there. >> still wearing a size 32. >> 28 over here, baby. >> the sweet spot is take a simple measuring tape around your hips. up to your belly button there. suck it in now. you're 27. 27 inches is the number you have to remember. it needs to be less than half your height. just to put numbers on it. for men it should be less than 40 inches. for women less than 35 inches. that's the rule of thumb. easy to follow.

for young women, they get caught up in weight. causing eating issues. use a measuring tape. >> next up -- >> please have a seat. >> the quiz is important here. i'm going to try to figure out whether you have something to worry about with your memory or not. you put five words up there before we went to break. you need to be able to remember those words for at least five to ten minutes. it's been about that long now. so you guys -- stand, if you don't mind. i put a memory quiz here. there's your chalk. write down those five words. do not look at each other's cards. do it yourself. don't lock at what they're writing here. you should be able to remember those for that short period of time and recall them. if you can't get it right, i'll help you out by showing you a list of words which you should be able to recognize. we have face. >> velvet. >>

core out just like that and then just score the skin. we let it cook inside there for maybe 30, 40 seconds or so. we'll just peel this back. >> put it in an ice bath. >> out of the water into the ice bath. let it cool down. basically once it's peeled, you'll skqueeze it like this an take this peeled tomato and in a hot plan, extra virgin olive oil. we have these tomatoes. we're going to cook them for about 30 to 35 minutes. salt and then once it's done we'll crush it and cook it for about 30 minutes or so. i don't like to cook my tomato sauce anymore than 40 minutes. >> you add reserve tomato juice from squeezing. >> exactly. >> good thing i got you here. i would have forgot that. >> as far as making the pasta --
