marlboro. >> megan mcgrath is live on the scene gathering details. megan, good morning, what are you learning? >> reporter: well, shots rang out right around 1:45 this morning. if you look over my shoulder here, you can see that we still have quite a bit of police activity here. we are along prince place here in the upper marlboro there. we have the rope completely cordened police say shots were fired at 1:what. they are focusing on the camry parked along the curb here on prince place. we can see what appears to be blood on the passenger seat. a man and woman were shout. the woman was taken from the scene here in critical condition, later pronounced dead at the hospital. as for the man, we're told that his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. in terms of what the motive in

republican congresswoman barbara comestock and luann bennett will face off at the chamber of commerce in tyson's at 5:30. you can follow julie carey for updates on this. this race is considered a toss-up right now. the richmond times dispatch reports outside groups have given the campaigns more than $2 million in just the last week. right now police are searching for a man with a gun near college park. university police say they pulled over a man near campus drive and hiker biker trail around 1:00 this morning. then the guy got out of his car, rap away into the woods. as of now, they have given the all-clear just a couple hours around the immediate area. we'll bring you more as we get it. thank you.

she murdered and teenager after a fight on a metro bus. 17-year-old kalea minor was stabbed to death on monday night. she and kyla jones fought on the bus and it spilled out onto the sidewalk. the victim's cousin said the family is relieved the suspect has been arrested. >> we forgive you, but it hurt us. it hurts so bad, i want to know why. i want to know why. >> the victim's family holds a candlelight vigil at 5:00 tonight at the corner where minor died. new this morning, we are seeing video of a violent robbery at a georgetown store. take a look here, d.c. police are looking for four men in this video. last thursday they went into a store in the 1400 block of wisconsin avenue and stole several purses.

the clerk attempts to stop the men from taking the items. one of the suspects hit the clerk several times before running out the door. and d.c. police are looking for this masked man who robbed the wells fargo last week. the person entered the bank in the middle of the afternoon disguised as a construction worker. as the teller was helping him, he flashed a gun and demanded money. anyone who recognizes this man is asked to call police. and 5:06 now. new this morning, police say one man is responsible for two deadly district. darrell thompson is charged with first-degree murder for the deaths of edward roberts jr. killed in july in northwest. the 27-year-old maryland man is also charged with the murder of tyler mahegern. police are still investigating both homicides and another incident of assault with a dangerous weapon connected to thompson. 5:07 now and to the

from the fairfax county police concerning this fatal crash. chopper 4 hovered over the scene at leesburg pike and tollston road. leesburg pike had to be shut down for hours. one person who was on a motorcycle was killed and three other adults had to be treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. we'll update you as we learn more about this incident. happening today, we'll learn more about the state of prince george's public schools. kevin maxwell gives afternoon. he's expected to talk about this year's problems. the county executive rashard baker under pressure to fire maxwell after several high-profile issues will introduce him. watch the address on the nbc washington app. and we're also getting a look at how the d.c. schools are doing under new leadership. john davis gave his state of the

accidental. the medical examiner said the boy could have been alive at lunchtime and died later on depending on the temperature in the car. and an accident happened yesterday at a landfill in sussex. authorities say the worker became stuck in a vertical pipe a mile from the landfill entrance. it is unclear what the men were doing at the time of the accident. the rescue crews worked for about three hours but were unable to sav health officials in st. mary's county are dealing with a public health crisis involving prescription drugs and heroin addiction. the fbi and the dea unveiled a new psa movie yesterday at chaka khan high school. five years ago heroin was a drug of choice for maybe 2% of people in the county. now 85% of the people they see

quickly through facebook. people reporting, hey, my car was broken into. my car was broken into. my car was broken into. two dozen vehicles, two dozen cars broken into in this north arlington neighborhood. so arl now first reported that it was in this williamsburg neighborhood of north arlington that all this happened in one day. so a number of people -- one woman e-mailing news the and telling us her had been in there rifling through some things. then she said, i got in touch with a friend of mine who lives seven blocks from this neighborhood and her car had been broken into as well. this is what we're learning from arlington county police this morning. that a number of the vehicles that were broken into, the doors were unlocked. so it's a good remind iras police tell everybody to keep their doors knocked. not leaving things like the

your music. put them away. i'm erika gonzalez. a man falls asleep at a green light leading to a violent encounter between him and police. it was caught on the officer's dash cam. megan fitzgerald explains what happened. >> reporter: this happened at 6:00 in the morning right in the middle of the morning rush. over here officers saw a man off-ramp of 495 and georgia avenue. dash cam video was rolling when the montgomery county officers pulled up behind the 32-year-old habukkuk israel. when he didn't comply, they tried to take him into custody. while resisting getting arrested, he hit the man in 18

years after he explained how he's trying to change his life. reporting in montgomery, megan fitzgerald, news4. officials are investigating an alleged threat against the republican campaign office in sterling. the loudoun county sheriff's office said someone overheard a conversation in the parking lot and reported what they perceived as a threat. and the office of personnel management is doing its part to make sure emoy vote on election day. they have up instructed agencies to offer excused absences where necessary to allow employees to vote. but they don't expect having to grant many since polling places are open for long periods of time. officials want to make sure employees have at least three hours before or after thor work to get to their polling locations. the u.s. department of transportation is out with new rules for u.s. airlines to protect you and your wallet.

probably a lot more clouds around tomorrow. so today's probably the last really pretty day to get outside to enjoy it. fair skies over washington this morning. a couple of extra clouds around this morning, but it is mild. temperatures are nearly 20 degrees above average for this time of the day in october. later this afternoon, dulles airport, likely to break another record. that will be three days in a row. any tiny rain chance today is really out along i-81. i don't think we need to worry about that in and around the city. for tomorrow, more clouds and a better chance for a hit-and-miss there's a reason i have the precautionary tale of a rain drop or two in the shenandoah valley today as the fading rain drops are here across southwestern parts of pennsylvania. temperaturewise, we're already near 70 degrees. we'll be near 80 by lunchtime and into the low 80s for highs this afternoon. again, better rain chances come back in late tonight and friday is looking a bit on the rainy side. more on that and the weekend coming up in a few minutes. melissa mollet and chopper 4 are teaming up. we have problems westbound 50 at 295.
