final stretch, just two and a half weeks until election day. >> and along with the hotly contested presidential race, we could also see a possible shift in congressional control. >> joining us with a look at where all things stand right now is nbc's kerry dan. let's look at the poll on who they believe won the last debate and what that means at this point. >> the poll after the final presidential debate shows a clean sweep for hillary clinton. more voters say they think she wo 37% say donald trump won. she's now after every debate come out on top. this margin is similar to the margin that she won by among likely voters after the second debate. the biggest difference, though, was after the first debate, by more than a 2 to 1 margin, voters said hillary clinton came out on top. it seems to be really having an effect in one of our recent polls. we asked voters if they were more likely to vote for one candidate over the other because
5:32 pm
31% said they were more like leto vote for hillary clinton. only 14% said the same of trump. so clearly, she's been benefitting from the exchanges. >> the third debate was the question put to them about rigged election or accepting results? what's the reaction of people out there about that issue? >> we asked if people would accept the results of the election. and among republicans, 45% said that they probably or likely would not. now, only 18% said that they would definitely not accept the results of hillary clinton won. that's among republicans. but that number of 45%, if this is a very close race, you could see a lot of pushback from republicans if it turns out to be very close results. however, in all of our national polling, we're not seeing that scenario shaking out. we're seeing a big margin for hillary clinton. there's still going to be that hard core of about 18% of republicans who say if hillary clinton wins, i'm going to push back. >> what about people on the down
5:33 pm
and house? is this trickling down to them, to those republicans? are they starting to feel the pressure? >> the issue of congressional control is very important. it might be where the suspense really is on election night. now, on the house side, democrats are not that optimistic they'll be able to take over the house. they would need to net 30 seats in order to win control. there's only about 40 seats total that are actually competitive. that includes places where democrats are playing defense. it would take a big tsunami for house control. but the senate is a different story. s photo finish of the nine toss-up seats that we are looking at as possible toss-ups. only one democrats are playing offense. republicans are playing a lot of defense here. but they seem to be holding their own in states where donald trump really seems to have cratered the senate candidates in those states are pulling ahead of donald trump, hoping they can create distance and squeak it out. this is going to come down to one or two races when it comes
