state are already deciding as we speak. early voting began today in the sunshine state where many polls have indicated a tight race between trump and clinton. a victory in florida is critical for trump to capture the 270 electoral votes needed to win the white house. early voting also got underway here in the district over the weekend. and we will start thursday in maryland. >> today trump is on the trail in florida playing up his on twitter today, the republican nominee accused democrats as making up phoney poll numbers to discourage his supporters. just moments ago, he reiterated his stance about the election being rigged. >> the best evidence that our system is rigged is the fact that hillary clinton despite her many crimes was even allowed to

congregation. derrick ward is live for us in old town where that couple just went before a judge. >> they just appeared before a judge here in federal court. this is about a church that has operated here for quite awhile. apparently has been on the radar of investigators for quite some time. now indicted today were terry wayne seen here with h both along with another woman. they are all being charged with a plethora of charges uncolluding conspiracy to commit wire fraud. they were arrested because they actually started an investigation into the church's activities back in 2013. now an attorney that has represented them thought the investigation had gone dormant until papers were handed down today. they operated a company called microenterprise management

short-term loans to people in developing countries. and they recruited investors by emphasizing that christian mission and guaranteed rates of return. but investigators say those rates of return were false. what was actually happening was money that was invested was being used for risky trading on foreign exchange currency markets and options tradings. the profits and the money from that investment were being used to fund expenses. now the minister and the other woman are being held and back in court later this week for a hearing on their status. however, the wife has been released. she's been told to surrender her passport and not to engage in any self-employment. and we are expecting to learn more about these charges and

talk to the attorney for these folks. some of their family members were in court today. they wouldn't talk to us. we talked to the attorney who represented this minister in previous cases and will be representing him again. we are live in alexandria, derrick ward, news 4. a maryland state trooper is now out of the hospital after a driver hit his cruiser on the beltway. tracee wilkins has new information now on the trooper's condition and where the investigation stands. >> after being flown to baltimore, this was an incredible crash that caused major backups yesterday on the beltway. let me show you the scene yesterday there. according to state troppers, this is the 13th trooper to be struck on the beltway this year. trooper first class robert was in his vehicle monitoring

around and facing in the wrong direction. this happened off the shoulder of the interloop on 95 near route 1. again, that trooper had to be taken out of the vehicle and was trapped inside. police believe the striking vehicle was at fault. they don't know why he left the road, but that vehicle and that driver has not been charged yet. >> alcohol is a possible factor. it can be a lengthy process. >> reporter: we learn more about the trooper and his dedication to this bar rack where he operated for four years. tracee wilkins, news 4. i'm more in shock that i actually had a witness something like this. the fact that i was right there.

temperatures out there at 70 degrees. a beautiful afternoon. winds out of the northwest at 15 miles per hour. those winds gusting upwards of 20 to 35 miles per hour. that makes things cool too. those winds go going to stay up and help temperatures a little bit. we have colder numbers moving in. notice the warmer air down to the south. the cooler air makes its way into the north. back to the blue ridge and back to the valley. start tomorrow. cold enough back here now not too worried, but there could be some frost. that is the valley towards the right. back towards parts of west virginia as well. frosted a vuz ri as temperatures into get into the 30s. wind may help to procollude that frost from forming. but still that's something we'll be seeing a lot more of the next couple days.

factor in this accident here. once again georgia avenue has reopened. adam tuss, news 4. the faith community plays a critical role in helping to fight domestic violence, but should local churches be doing more. we continue our focus on domestic violence this week in an effort to keep you safe at home. joining me now is mandrell birks, show devoted to domestic violence. he's the former director in prince georges county. you'll see a phone number at the bottom of the screen if you need to call now for help. so yesterday many churches in the county took part in safe sunday where pastors are encouraged to preach about this issue. but it's still very much a taboo subject in a lot of churches. not just in prince georges

have shied away from this issue. and we found that's why over a decade ago, the state's attorney thought of this initiative to make sure we address this issue through the pulpit. but one of the concerns that our listenser were calling in stating once you deliver this message, we want to make sure you're prepared to deal with what comes back. we want to encourage our because that's critical. if you do not participate in trainings, there's a strong possibility you can get someone killed. >> what specific steps do you suggest that pastoral counselors take when people come to them with this problem? >> first, don't bring them to your office as a couple. don't begin to engage a conversation about what went on at home in front of the abuser. whether the abuser could be male or female.
