fbi discovered newly discovered e-mails that could be pertinent to this investigation. this letter to members of congress from fbi director james comey puts hillary clinton's e-mail controversy back in the spotlight. comey writes he agrees that the fbi should take appropriate investigative steps because the fbi learned of the existence of e-mails that may contain classified information. nbc news has learned the e-mails were discovered in a separate investigation into anthony weiner and his estranged wife, huma abedin, who is clinton's closest aide. republicans were outraged that clinton wasn't charged by the fbi in their first review of her private e-mail server. today in new hampshire, donald trump says a miscarriage of justice is about to be corrected. >> hillary clinton's corruption is on a scale we have never seen before. >> clinton campaign chairman released a statement calling for

for more transparency on this revelation. reporting live, back to you. >> thank you, edward. so now, the question is what's next? nbc news justice correspondent pete williams continues our team coverage. >> the bottom line question here is, if they do discover other e-mails that may have classified information on them, two things flow from that. one is it's going to take a long time to determine whether those were in fact classified. you can just guarantee that this is no way. there's probably legal process going on here to get subpoenas to look at those materials as well. but the second question is, what would it -- how might it change the fbi's bottom line conclusion, which the attorney general agreed with, that there was no prosecutable case, no reasonable prosecutor would bring a case like this. legal experts tell us if it's more of the same, if they find more e-mails that contain classified information, you

that probably wouldn't change the bottom line classification. but first step is to see, was there a classified information in these e-mails. what's the significance, and take it from there. >> pete williams. >> former d.c. mayor vince gray is calling for more security at the dorothy height library in northeast. the library is an early voting center and gray is also the democratic nominee for the ward 7 d.c. council seat. police say a man was shot in the parging lot there this from an armed security guard there last night. so far, nobody has been arrested. gray is calling for a more prominent police presence, saying it's important residents feel safe when they vote. >> a forler alexandria resident appeared in court today to face charges of election fraud and forgery. he's accused of turning in phony registration forms. julie carey joins us from the voter registration office to

those fraudulent forms, this alleged crime discovered by election office workers doing what they do every day, clously scrutinizing all of the paper that comes through indoors. what they found a few months back had them calling the prosecutor's office right away. >> he was getting paid $15 an hour to register voters, but now vafalay massaquoi is jailed without bond, accused of turning in staff noticed irregularities right away, when he dropped off a stack of forms in june. >> we review all of the applications before we process them, and this particular group, because they all came in together, there was some information on them that seemed like we needed to refer it to the commonwealth attorney. >> an investigation led to felony charges forging a public record and election fraud, but massaquoi moved out of state.

it's been over a year since these murders and still a trial date has not been set. the defense argued that they have to go through an abuddance of evidence from the prosecution and it takes time and the judge agreed. it has been nearly a year and a half since sauven and amy suvaup almost and their son and housekeeper were brutally tortures and murdered inside their d.c. home. police to the suspect. >> they got dna off pizza they were eating. >> still no trial date for daron wint. >> you run across a case like this where it will drag on and drag on. >> dwayne stanton is a retired homicide detective for the metropolitan police department. he said part of the rison the case could drag on before going to trial is because of the hundreds of swabs of evidence collected from inside the mansion. >> it takes time to process all of those swabs. >> daron wint was in court

was an assistant of the russian president. that man who died at a d.c. hotel has been ruled a accident. his name was mikhail lesin. he was anvider to vladimir putin and a co-founder of a network called russia today. lesin's body was found on the floor of his room at the depauntd circle hotel last november. russian media said he died of a heart attack. four months after his d.c. chief medical examiner said he died of blunt force injuries. today, u.s. attorney's office said the investigation is concluded and he died after several days of excessive alcohol consumption and he was alone in his room when he was injured by falling a number of times. >> eight people injured after what investigators are calling a major emergency response at o'hare international airport in chicago. seven passengers and one flight

a local man was charged with setting off pipe bombs near the homes of two sheriff's deputies, but four years after that crime, that man has yet to go to trial. there had been a series of twists in the case of lawrence stewart. the i-team has uncovered new information and new footage in the past few days to show us what's going on there.

stewart bombed the homes of two stafford county sheriff's deputies in 2012. records and footage just obtained under the freedom of information act reveal while he's not yet stepped into a stafford county courtroom. prosecutors in montana, they certainly add to lawrence stewart went on the run and recorded this manifesto threatening to kill police. >> people will die. i guarantee pursued stewart's car on a highway, prosecutors say he tossed pipe bombs from the window. this video of the incident has just been released. he was convicted in that state of attempted murder and is serving life in prison. john parker tried the case and spoke with the i-team. >> this defendant showed clear cold blooded premeditated intent

we saw that in the bombs he made in advance of the incident and the video he made. he made it clear his intent to kill law enforcement. >> prosecutors say they still intend to try stewart for attacks there. he's charged in stafford with eight counts including attempted murder. the sheriff's department must first get and return stewart to stafford county, and according to records from the stafford county court clerk's office, he's trying to block his return to virginia, asking a lawyer be appoin appear via video instead of in person. thirx-team found his case wasn't only time a local man was found guilty of deploying explosives. earlier this year, this man was sentenced to 16 years after pleading guilty to fire bombing a corrections office in leesburg. we found 600 cases in which people in the d.c. area were investigated for deploying, building, or threatening to use

our weekend forecast. getting off to a crisp start, but there is some warmer weather ahead, isn't there? >> tomorrow, we're looking at high temperatures in the mid 70s and around 80 degrees on sunday. so the last weekend in october, feeling more like september. right now, though, already comfortably cool out there. and it will be chilly overnight tonight. most of us in the 50s. washington still at 60 degrees. here's a look at the winds earlier today. it was pretty breezy out there. we had gusts at the winds, probably not an issue anymore, and as the winds die down at night and we have clearer skies, a lot of times that means it's going to be a chilly one out there. dining out tonight probably not the best idea. but this weekend, if you don't have plans, grab your lunch, grab dinner outdoors. both saturday and sunday, it's washington. we know restaurants still have all their outdoor seating available. but it's going to be a cold start tomorrow morning. take a look at how chilly it

a former day care worker, she's accused of distributing child pornography. >> but her defense may hinge on how she allegedly did it. her name is pamela wilson, and this is second time she's been under federal investigation, but this time, prosecutors may have a digital road block to overcome. news 4's chris gordon joins us to explain why. chris. >> well, the federal magistrate in this has never had a case like this before. this is not the first time 19-year-old pamela wilson has been the target of a federal investigation. a year ago, the department of homeland security examined pornography she allegedly sent to arizona. it's an ongoing investigation. she hasn't been charged, but she was warned to quit her job in child day care. now, a new investigation has

detention on the charge of child pornography distribution from virginia to d.c. the prosecutor's chief witness is d.c. detective timothy paul check who was with the empty cheeld exploitation task force, working as a special agent for the fbi. the aft he described in court has been obtained by news 4. it identified pamela wilson's facebook checked with the department of vehicles and found her driver's license matched her facebook profile and the image sent to the undercover agent in the course of their digital conversations. the affidavit said wilson was interested in sexual acts with his 9-year-old daughter. the affidavit says in september and october, wilson told the undercover dad that she was uncomfortable sending him pornography but that she had

password. he found more than 100 videos showing young children being abused by adults. wilson's attorney, federal public defender argued her client neither intended to distribute nor actually transferred possession of the videos. now, the federal magistrate ordered both sides to submit legal briefs, and on tuesday, he'll have another hearing trying to clear up this cyber confusion. now, af c prosecutors and defense attorneys who have handled child pornography cases. they seem to agree that if somebody puts pornography into a lock box and gives a stranger a key, that seems to them to be distribution. but it will be up to the federal magistrate to decide this case on tuesday. back to you. >> thanks, chris. >> the mother of chandra levy is reacting to recent comment made
