to the virginia home. instead pierre drove her to a college park hotel, carried the woman into a room, then used her credit card. in a statement tonight, uber says the incident is deeply unsettling. the company says pierre has been banned from the app. he is in custody tonight. d.c. police are looking for this man accused of kicking in the door of a home in the columbia heights neighborhood. the burglar thought the home was empty but one of the was home. according to the police report, the suspect made like he had the gun and told the resident to wait in the bathroom. he stole several laptop computers and the victim's iphone from the house near 16th and irving northwest. if you think you can identify this guy, police would like to hear from you. 8 are recovering after an american airlines plane caught fire on the run way. the after math caught on cell phone video.

sliding down emergency chutes. sarah rosario reports. >> reporter: as black smoke billows outside american airlines flight 383, cell phone video inside the plane shows complete chaos. scared and confused passengers lining the aisle to get out. >> starting to take off, we didn't get in the air and the right side engine blew. big blob of fire, evedy so professional. the pilot stopped the plane perfect. we started exiting. it was coordinated chaos. >> mixed reports as to what caused the fire. the faa says the boeing 767 departed from chicago and headed to miami when a tire blew. american airlines said the engine malfunctioned. >> there was heavy volume of fire. >> reporter: in any case it was more than frightening for the

ward 7 council candidate and former mayor vince gray called on d.c. police to increase the presence in the area. he says people shouldn't have to vote in fear. jim? doreen, runners are resting up tonight as they get ready for the biggest marathon of its kind. the marine corps marathon organizers invited folks to the national harbor. the race brings tens of thousands of people from all over the world to promote community good will and showcase the marine corps. that means traffic tie ups if you we have everything you need to know about the race including road closures. open the nbc washington app. now just a couple of days from the marathon, a local woman is running to raise money for sick children. news4 shomari stone spoke to her. >> reporter: jim, the children in here at nih had a dinner for the runners.

one woman tells me she is ready. >> it is exciting that it is sneer jessica can't wait to run in the 10 k on sunday. she raised $3,500 for a non-profit, the children's inn at nih. >> it is a place where families can go while their children are receiving really amazing treatments and they can all be together and it is a not every city has. >> reporter: she is one of 30 people running to help the children's inn. since 19990, it is a free place like home for more than 12,500 seriously ill children and their families. they can play outside, relax in their rooms while they receive treatment at nih. >> this is our second year participating as a charity partner in the marine corps marathon and it is raising vital funds.

starting. reed is out. jordan reed and josh norman expect to play. it was certainly a sleepy morning for the redskins after finishing practice in ashburn on thursday, afternoon the team boarded a plane to london and as soon as they landed, they were back on the practice field, starting to get ready for the bengals. despite some yawns, washington held the normal friday practice. team happy to be done with the ra in london. >> the flight was, it just was. it is what it is. i mean, we had to fly, slept a little bit, but you hit the ground running when you get here. it was brutal. it has been brutal. >> one day, extended day, we left from practice and then got on a plane and then come back to another practice. it is like you never really got to sleep. we're making it work. >> i thought the energy was pretty good.
