sweatshirt, black pants and blue adidas sneakers. if you have any information, call police. developing out of prince george's county. we have more information about the elderly man who died in oxen hill after he was trapped in the flames of a home. news4 derrick ward is live on the scene with more on why the man may not have been able to escape. derrick? >> reporter: good morning here, we're in the 7600 block of lf you can see the remains of this house. this was a terrible fire that started here at about 11:32 last night. that is when prince george's county firefighters were called to the scene here in the 7600 block of belfast place. an elderly woman was able to get herself out but her husband was trapped inside. we're told that he was pronounced dead on the scene from flames and smoke inhalation. he was 84 years old. they were steadfast members of

some of of the family members who showed up here, people who had grown up in the house have to go through and find what they can from this fire. important papers, belongings, momentos, a life lost. we're told that the smoke detectors in the basement did work but not on the upper floors. and prince george's county firefighters are trying to determine the cause of this fire but that house is a total loss. we're live in oxen hill, derrick ward _ news4. back to you. >> so tragic, derek, developing prince george's county police trying to find out if a man in a wheelchair was inside the crosswalk when he was killed by a driver of a car in clinton. this happened on stuart lane off of branch avenue. the man was in a motorized wheelchair when he was hit around 8:30 last night. the driver did stay on the scene and is working with police now. there is another pedestrian crash that we're following. this one in prince george's county. we know one man is in critical condition right now after a

heights. that happened in a busy shopping area along saint barnabas road. police are on the look out for that driver. d.c. police are investigating a shooting on quarles street. a man was taken to the hospital after he was shot there. no suspect information has been given. we'll update you here on news4. taking a look at the race for the white house now. both candidates not slowing down this weekend. on both arizona and colorado while hillary clinton returns to the battleground state of florida. this has been a string of unpleasant surprises for donald trump. hillary clinton is getting her turn. her campaign has been rocked by word that the fbi is looking into newly discovered e-mails connected to the investigation of her private server. nbc's brian moore reports it is not clear yet what information is in them.

prince george's county. dozens of families cheered when the electricity was restored before 10:00. the families had been evicted after the condo association failed to pay $1.2 million in past utilities. maryland public service commission ordered the power and gas to be turned back on. the condo association explains what is next. >> the next make sure the county is supporting us in the next step to stabilize the property. >> it is not yet known when gas will also be restored to that building. the condo complex has a history of problems with code violations and debt issues. happening today, the kids get their turn to run ahead of the marine corps marathon. thousands of little ones will participate in the fun run at the pentagon this morning. the marine corps marathon health expo continues at national harbor today as well.

wow. police body camera video caught this dramatic rescue by police in new mexico there. that santa fe police officer coming to the aid of the 87-year-old woman. police say she had been driving on a flat tire to see her doctor when the tire caught fire. the officer was able to get her woman out of the car in time and rescue her cain before putting the fire out himself. the woman was checked for smoke inhalation. she is expected to be just fine. this morning, d.c. police on the look out for this man.

burglary in columbia heights. police say the man kicked in the door of a home and forced someone to wait in the bathroom after acting like he had a weapon. police say the burglar stole several laptops and an iphone from the car near 16th and irvin streets in northwest. if you know anything, contact police. the supreme court taking up a virginia case over transgender the justices will hear an appeal from the school board. the school wants to prevent a transgender teen from using the boy's bathroom at his house. a ruling in his case could be used to resolve similar disputes nationwide. the case won't be heard until next week. it is 8:56. if you thought we were done with the 80s, think again. you might be pleasantly surprised soon. tom is updating the 4 things to know about the forecast. >> never done with the 80s. major new metro work.
