sprint to the election. election day is now just eight days away and this final week of campaigning will be pretty crucial for both cans. donald trump and hillary clinton will on the road today. donald trump will be in michigan and clinton is in ohio. the it is the e-mail controversy that continues to dog her campaign. angie goff has the latest on that from the decision desk. >> good morning. here is what is new. to search those newly discovered e-mails related or that they say is related to hillary clinton's private server case. they are e-mails found on disgraced former congressman anthony weiner's laptop. it has been two days since the fbi director leaked clinton's e-mails to weiner's estranged wife, a top clinton aide. a lot of connection over what they have to the e-mail probe.

road. the victim was in his wheelchair when he was hit by a car friday night on stuart road. he was returning to the clinton nursing and rehabilitation center and there are no sidewalks. the center has now given them reflective vests to wear. we'll find out if the center is making any other changes. the driver has not been charged. investigators have not releasing the name of saint mary's deputy that was involved in a crash after 2:00 yesterday on chancellor's run road in the area of peg road when the pedestrian entered the roadway and was hit. speed or alcohol don't seem to be contributing factors here. the sheriff's office is asking anyone who may have seen the crash to call them right away. the former mayor of the city of fairfax who was arrested in a sex for drugs best is due in court today. scott silverthorne is facing drug possession charges. he tried to trade meth for sex

in august. silverthorne later resigned and was fired from his job as a fairfax county substitute teacher. an election for his replacement is scheduled for february. new numbers show how many private gun sellers in virginia have voluntarily requested background checks on the kmaerz at gun shows. -- customers at gun shows. 21 private sellers opted fort checks across the state from july 9th to october 23rd at 23 gun shows. by comparison, moren mandatory background checks were performed by federally licensed firearm dealers at the 23 shows. they have three months to say goodbye for now. nearly 200 national guard soldiers parted with their families from the fort belvoir army base for deployment to the middle east. this is according to the baltimore sun. they will join a total of 450 soldiers from the maryland and

if slow downs on metro weren't enough, we have learned that metro's general manager wants to propose increasing fares and some wait times and wants to slash jobs as well. this is all in an effort to close a nearly $300 million budget short fall. according to a metro document, the the proposal calls for increasing wait times. right now the wait is six minutes. bus and rail fares can go up between 5 and 25 cents a ride. here is what riders have to say about this. >> that is absurd, like, why would you want that? it is not a change for the better. >> it is going to happen whether we like it or not. at this point i just, i got to save a little more so i can ride the train or get a car. >> paul wiedefeld says the plan balances expenses with safety and service. the final budget has to be approved by march.

being injured at the martinsville speedway. after yesterday's race, a driver tried to pass another vehicle. that is when the fans were hurt. most of the injuries were minor. police arrested the driver. no word on any charges. police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor. today, jury selection begins in the case of a former police officer in south carolina. he is accused of shooting an unarmed black man. michael slager pulled over walter scott f taillight. slager's attorneys say there is more to this incident than what is shown in the video. slager faces 30 years to life in prison if convicted. it is the final day of jury selection in the murder trial of former university of cincinnati police officer ray tensing. he is charged with fatally shooting a black and unarmed man sam de-bose. there is video showing the entire incident. he claimed he was being dragged

gun. former attorney general eric holder is criticizing fbi director james comey about his decision to tell congress about new e-mails that could be related to the clinton e-mail investigation. he wrote an op ad in the washington post saying comey made a mistake. he said it violated long standing justice department policies tradition and ran counter to guidance i put in place four years ago and laying out the proper way to conduct investigatio election season. 6:17 right now. today, several maryland leaders will layout their plan to protect your voting rights. there is a news conference at 11:30 this morning at the sports and learning complex in landover. the leaders will explain how people can resist voter intimidation. thousands are waking up in shelters after a powerful earthquake hit italy's mountain region. the 6.6 magnitude quake caused several buildings to collapse.

up. i think it will be a long while before we have to worry too much in the way of a snow chance around here. we normally don't have our best chance of snow until the first week of december. last year, we did not get our first inch of snow until it was a blizzard which came out. we got our first instance an the first 24 inches all within the same day. yesterday's high, 80 degrees at national airport. that came within two of the record but both bwi and dulles set records yesterday. the record high for yesterday was 85. that will be safe, but thursday's record is only 80 degrees and we might be within a degree or two of a record on thursday. for now, 4 the 9 in centerville and potomac, 54 in arlington this morning, 52 in college park. afternoon temperatures, upper 50s in northern maryland. low 60s in and around town. breezy at times. northwest winds today, 10 to 15 miles an hour but we have the shot of rain around here late yesterday afternoon into the evening hours.

the breaking news early sunday morning. he joins us live from police headquarters with the latest now. derrick, good morning. >> reporter: well, good morning again. we're here at police headquarters in palmer park where the investigation is still under way and this crime is still indeed under investigation. take a look. it happened on walker mill road early sunday morning and when the gunfire was done, six were wounded, two fatally. 18-year-old brian davis of northwest d.c. is one of the vi 14-year-old todd jones of walker mill road was also killed. now, there is an adult male who is hospitalized in serious condition and another who is hospitalized. we don't know that condition but both of those folks are expected to survive. there are two others treated and released but there was lots of gunfire reported on the parking lot on walker mill road. cars had been damaged, even the door to one of those apartment buildings. this all stems from a shooting after a party. prince george's police are

northbound 123, we have a new crash there. overall, prince george's county. pennsylvania avenue, everything looking pretty good there. 95 and maryland, no problems either. i'm derrick ward at prince george's county police headquarters in palmer park. a little over 24 hours into an investigation into a multiple shooting now. police determined that the shooting was not random. however, two people were killed. 18-year-old brian davis of d.c. and walker mill road were pronounced dead on the scene of shooting. it happened yesterday morning. police say that two people remain hospitalized. one of them in serious condition. two more have been treatand released. the cause and motive is still under investigation. we're live in prince george's county. derrick ward, news4, back to you. >> thank you, derrick. 2,700 national guard
