>> jeff thompson's guilty plea pulls back the curtain to expose widespread corruption. >> reporter: gray knows there's a difference between a mayoral and presidential election but he says the prosecutors comments cost him his reelection. he says when that happened two and a half years ago, "the washington post" not only didn't object, but quoted prosecutors when they endorsed his opponent and then the post wrote this. the incumbent mayor o to put him in office. >> in my situation, they became cheerleaders. they endorsed my opponent in that race. >> reporter: given the e editorial page's stance, gray doesn't understand why the post would write in 2016 this a about the comey letter. his timing was nevertheless unfortunate given its potential to affect a democratic process in which millions of people are already voting.

>> they seem to be outraged. they ought to explain the difference. >> a spokesperson declined to comment for our report. in the district, mark segraves, news 4. a story still developing in baltimore, where six people are dead and two others are in critical condition after a school bus crashed. federal investigators are on the scene trying to figure out how and why this >> it's catastrophic damage. >> we go straight to meagan fitzgerald live at the scene. >> ntsb and baltimore police officers have been out here investigating for more than ten hours. look behind me you can see they are still out here. it's going to be awhile. we have a lot to go through. a lot to investigate. but here's what they are telling us about the investigation. they say they did not find any

this school bus never stopped. they also tell us that the school bus was coming down frederick avenue, rear ended a bus tang. you can see it slammed into the fence creating that gap before that school bus continued on where it collided with that commuter bus. it was a horrific crash scene that even some investigators say is something they have never seen in baltimore before. a school bus slammed into shredded scraps of metal. 13 people were on board. six died including the driver of the school bus and mta bus. the school bus aid along with nine other victims were rushed to the hospital. >> the yellow bus was the whole left side of the mta bus. >> reporter: ber nel saw what happened when it was struck. this mustang was hit from behind, slammed into the fence before stopping in the middle of

window and walked away. it's a miracle. >> reporter: the man driving that mustang was shawn braxton. >> everything happens really fast. the thing that you see is a blur and then the impact hits. >> shawn remembers looking up as the bus hit the side of this pillar before several mta riders were killed. >> he didn't have no brakes.

perhaps the school bus driver had had some sort of a medical emergency, but they won't know that until the autopsy. they still want to hear from witnesses. back to you. >> eagan fitzgerald, thank you. new video posted on twitter shows prince georges county firefighters arriving at it happened last night. the fire caused about 200,000 in damages. flames broke out at 7:30 last night at a two-story duplex on birch leaf avenue. six adults and six children are now been displaced. no word yet on just what caused that fire. also new tonight an arrest in the murder of a 14-year-old boy. todd webb was shot and killed in capital heights rl sunday morning.

it happened in an apartment complex minutes after another shooting. the 18-year-old also died and several others were injured. . >> mr. freeman is not charged with the shooting because we believe our understanding is our investigation revealed he was actually killed from the initial gunfire and not the shooting from mr. freeman. >> police are still looking for the people responsible for the first shooting and a motive. a new clue in the hunt abducting and sexually assaulting a woman. fairfax county police released sketches of the suspects today. the victim says she met the men at a restaurant last month. she left with them in the mini van and says they pulled out a gun and sexually assaulted her. they later took her phone and left her on the side of the road. she was able to flag down help. a death with dignity bill is

if the measure gets final approval in two weeks, the bill would also treat distracted driving as seriously as drunk driving. if anyone is seriously injured or killed. a case of road rage in the district ends in gunfire. it happened just after midnight on saturday along 7th street northwest near the beer garden in shaw. a plan man on his bike and passenger inside a car got into an argument of some kind. that's when the passenger pulled out a gun and shot at the wheel. the cyclist wasn't hurt. no word on any suspects in this case. a judge in prince georges county wants to make sure that what happened at the condos doesn't happen again. earlier this month 77 families were given 72 hours notice to get out of the temple hills complex. the condo association had more than $1 million in outstanding

later. today lawyers for the complex met with officials from the utility companies. they are trying to work out a way to pay the bills. a judge wants to make sure that the residents have at least two weeks notice if those utilities are turned off again. the difficult road to recovery for a tourist injured in an accident on the parkway. how a complete stranger has stepped in to help her hale. a woman whose car was it rural road was sexually assaulted by the man who hit her. now the sheriffs office is looking for the public's help. their advice about what to do if your car is hit or disabled in a rural spot like this. nearly 60 years later, a former bat boy for washington senators returns to the site sow

>> julie carey has that story and some advice from depuies for others who might be wondering what to do if their car is hit. >> reporter: this is what the assault suspect looks like and the shirt he was wearing when he crashed an suv into a young woman's car around 2:45 monday morning. he then dragged her out of her vehicle and assaulted her in this brushy area along a rural stretch of after two hours, the suspect left. the victim called 911. women who live in the area unnerved by the attack. i have to find out who did it. i feel bad for the woman. she has to be traumatized for life. >> reporter: today the cam rafs rolling as a canine returned to the scene of the sexual assault looking for more evidence. it wasn't long before investigators spotted something. a woman's shoe stuck in the tangled branches. it was immediately bagged and

this is also the spot where earlier detectives found the suspect's blue, orange and white plaid shirt. they want to know who was wearing it. investigators are also hoping the public can either help identify or spot the dark colored suv the suspect drove. it could have orange paint either on the front or the passenger's side panel election from the collision. the sheriffs office with some advice whether you're in a disabled vehicle or after a crash. stay in the car until help comes. >> you're under no obligation to roll down the window if you're by yourself or somebody comes to help you. you're under no obligation to get out of the car. the very first thing you should

>> reporter: julie carey, news 4. charges have been filed in connection with a hit-and-run. police say a man was speeding on eastern avenue in northeast d.c. on saturday afternoon when he hit an suv and then set off a chain reaction crash. a woman was killed in that crash. her daughter and grandson were i his car after the crash and johnson ran away. but they arrested him later nearby. a young tourist from china has not been able to go home because she's still here recovering from a crash that happened this summer on the g.w. parkway. she lost both of her legs in the accident. but thanks to a complete stranger, she's getting better. chris gordon reports. >> reporter: despite having both

a council approved a bill to expand on the county's six and safe leave law. it requires employers who do business in the county to provide a minimum amount of accrued paid leave for employees when it comes to new birth, adoptions or foster children. the council passed a similar measure but explain the law to businesses. two of the nation's leading cancer experts are calling on the food and drug administration to expedite patient access to therapy drugs. it's less likely to produce less harmful side effects. there may be greater potential

world series around here. yesterday e we told you about two men who worked for the washington senators back in the 50s. two photographs in particular had a huge impact on their lives. mark segraves took those men back to the site of the old grit griffith stadium and turned out to be an emotional reunion. >> i was the bat boy for the washington senators from >> his first job was selling hot dogs at the game. but bill turner had his sights set on the field. >> i wanted to be a major league ball player from the minute i can remember. >> reporter: he was a pitcher for his high school team. he was already getting paid by the washington senators. >> first two years it was $2.50

game. but the last year i was there in '59, i pitched batting practice to the pitchers and gave me an extra $5. but i would have paid them to do it. >> his favorite day was opening day. the president always threw out the first pitch at griffith stadium and in 1958 he was the defending home run champ. >> i wouldn't miss that for the world. my mom also knew how i enjoyed

allison or lemon having just hit a home run. >> reporter: while none of his home run kings were there, mark hornby, a baseball historian, was on hand with something special for the former bat boy. a bat autographed. >> thank you. >> i thought it might mean a little more to you than ne. >> turner now a judge went on fulfill his dream ofay but some of his best memories are from those four years working at griffith stadium and he says it was worth getting kicked off his high school team for a year. >> if it was a choice of the bat boy or playing for the team, i would have chosen the bat boy. it was just a dream come true type of job for anybody that loves baseball.

he was allowed back ob his high school team in 1959. he promised his coach he wouldn't miss practice in order to work as a bat boy and he kept that promise. in 1959 opening day again was a school day. e he went to practice and school. his best friend jim ryan worked opening day, caught the ball from president eisenhower, which he still has on his shelf today. and bill turner says half that ball should be his. >>be both of those guys. >> absolutely wonderful. i'm trying so hard not to hate that coach. i mean, come on. like the kid said. i got more down there. that's a wonderful story. >> two great guys with so many great stories. we have a much longer version on the web. an article i wrote that has a lot of other side stories we were able to tell.

you'll not need the umbrella unless kohl pepper region. watching a couple showers here in culpepper county. not going to impact most of us, but if you live in culpepper, you might see some of the showers moving on through. it's all part of that. i normally don't show you a large map, but i want to show you where the air is coming from. this is amazing. look at the satellite picture and the clouds coming up and over. the clouds are coming from down chicago over towards cleveland and right over towards our area. that's why we're getting such warm air u. there's tremendous warmth here. records set all over the southeast. tomorrow we're close to records ourself. 53 degrees. 67 at noon. 77 by 3:00. by 7:00 tomorrow night, still looking at a nice night of 72 degrees. the record high i think comes on thursday. a a record high of 80 degrees.

trent williams has been suspended without pay for violating the substance abuse policy. the four-game suspension is due to a missed drug test and not a failed drug test. the suspension will take place immediately. he's eligible to return on december 5th. this not the first time the pro bowler has been suspended. he missed four games in 2011 for violating the policy. his suspension will cost williams just over $1.6 million. the redskins have only played three games without trent williams since the 2012 season. a left tackle behind williams is set to replace him. . we'll see how that works out. moving on to college basketball, both george washington's men and women's team had plenty of success last year, but both are looking for their head coach. he was let go after an
