the 1900 block of 16th street. d.c. police worked this scene until actively until about 2:00 this morning. we're working to find out a motive and suspect information in this investigation. that is the latest live from the scene. back to you. >> molette, thank you. developing this morning, we're working to learn more about a deadly shooting last night in capitol heights. it happened on byers street around 9:30. officers arrived and found a man had been sho police are offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect. two u.s. service members have died and another two injured during an operation in afghanistan. we're learning the service members came under fire during a mission in kunduz to assist afghan partners in clearing a taliban position. the department of defense this morning is waiting to release the service member's names until

they held control for two years. it is 6:06. now to the developing story in maryland. a man was stabbed in the 1100 block of key parkway just before 9:00 last night. that is between mccain drive and willow dale drive. the victim is expected to be okay. anyone with information is asked to call police. today, the father of a preschooler -- the preschool kwloer took the loaded gun to school will be in court. anthony childs attorney has no idea how the gun got into his son's back pack. a security guard found the gun in the little boy's bag on tuesday morning. we learned in court documents that child's dropped his son off after picking the boy up after the grandmother's house. no one at the house reported seeing a gun. we'll hear metro's board react to general manager paul wiedefeld's budget proposal

after a school bus and mta bus collided in baltimore on tuesday. six people died including both bus drivers. the driver of the mta bus was 33-year-old ebony baker. she leaves behind four children. her father is worried about his grandchildren. >> her son keeps saying you gonna going pick mommy up. he is the five-year-old one. you're going to pick mommy up? you're going to pick mommy up? and i just, you know, i j hurt for that because he don't know. >> so sad and heartbreaking. the investigation focuses on the 67-year-old driver of the school bus who also died. police want to know whether he had some kind of medical emergency. today in south carolina, opening arguments are expected in the trial of a former police officer. you see here, michael slager was an officer in north charleston last year when he shot and killed an unarmed black man after a traffic stop. the shooting of 50-year-old

phone video. slager pleaded not guilty. coverage the district. mayor muriel bowser says she will not veto the death with dignity bill passed by the council committee. it would allow terminally ill patients to request lethal medication from their doctors. >> an overwhelming vote and death with dignity will become a law. i will not be issuing a veto.

to a tenth to perhaps as much as a quarter of an inch. it is not a lot of rain but you can get the tenth of an inch of rain in a fairly short period of time. so planning out the day, we're mild. this morning it is 60 at national airport. temperatures will be in the upper 50s to around 60 here the next couple of hours. we'll easily spike way up into the 70s today. mid to upper 70s for most areas especially south of the city here have the best chance. fredericksburg, stanford. today. showers coming to an end early this evening. a little bit of fog first thing this morning. northern parts of 270 from gaithersburg to fredrick, maryland and pockets of fog across faulkner and culpeper as well. cold front, a dramatic change to our weather today. a lot of spots, may not get out of the 50s. a little light rain south of luray. most of the rain chances don't peak until after about 2:00 this

thank you, melissa. detectives in montgomery county need your help finding this missing woman. look at her picture here. 59-year-old claudette reed was last seen on friday morning. she left a group home to run errands in d.c. she was supposed to return to the home on sunday. anyone with information should call police. more details this morning, the man accuse of killing two iowa police officers has a history of run ins with police. last month, 46-year-old scott leave a high school football game for holding a confederate flag during the national anthem. in 2014, green faced a harassment charge afterhs/? he a derogatory term toward a black man and threatened to kill him. he shot two police officers while they sit in their patrol cars in the des moines area. hillary clinton wants to make her mark in arizona.

we could hear from leaders of prince george's hospital center today a mid a new health scare at the neonatal intensive care unit. it is closed for the second time because of a potentially deadly bacteria. kristin wright is live with the latest danger for vulnerable babies. >> reporter: baby of course in the nicu are typically this is hard to understand. today we thoep talk to hospital officials. so far they have only released a statement. at this time there, is no environmental indication or defined cause for the latest bacterium presence. therefore, out of an abundance of caution, prince george's hospital center today made the decision to temporarily close the nicu ar collaborative consultation with public health
