>> experts are confident the official voting tally will not be affected. we'll have much more on the election and the candidate's plans for the final 100 hours of their campaigns ahead in a live report. millions have already cast their ballots. there has been record turn out for early voting around the country today is the last day for early voting in the district. derrick ward is live at one judiciary square with what you need to know on the final day of early voting in d.c. good morning. > you know, this is where it all started in d.c. back on the first day of early voting. and you know, just like the flowers in spring, you see the election signs in fall. they're all up all over the place. this is one of the polling places that started on october 22nd. that was the first day of early voting. today you have from 8:30 until 7:00 p.m. to cast your vote early. the deadline to request an abentie ballot, d.c. has a no excuse absentee ballot.

mcauliffe announced yesterday that the state picked express mobility partners to design and operate the express lanes just outside of the beltway. the governor says taxpayer money won't be used. the group that won the bid agreed to give the state $500 million up front that could be spent on other transportation programs in the corridor. transurban, the company that runs the hot lanes on 495 and 95 put in a bid to do the work. construction of the 66 hot lanes is set the school bus driver involved in the crash in baltimore should not have been driving. the maryland motor vehicle administration says greg chapel's licenses was suspended. he also had a criminal conviction which could have disqualified him from driving school buses. he died in the crash along with an mta bus driver and four of its passengers. no kids were on the school bus. we're working to get new information on a developing story in the district. d.c. police are investigating a

4th street southeast. they say a man in his 20s was shot last night just before 9:30. at last check, he was in critical condition. we're making additional calls this morning to find out whether police have made any arrests or have new suspect information. we do have new information on another shooting in the district that left one man dead. police have released the identity of the victim. he is joshua munson of district heights. the 22-year-old was killed in the 1600 block of t street it happened late wednesday night. today the man who police say shot two d.c. school administrators will be in court. justin headspeth is charged with assault with intent to kill. the victim's kwar stuck in the snow there. according to charging documents, the male victim believes his brother was shot and killed by headspeth in 2007. a woman accused of brutally

right now. take a look at some of the flames building west of sydney, australia. more than 100 firefighters working to put out this fire and prevent the flames from getting any closer to people's homes. high winds are making the problem even worse. a leesburg mother is a victim of what is called virtual kidnapping, a scam. wendy -- muller received from mexico that sounded like her daughter. a man got on the phone and gave her demands. >> we have your daughter. we snatched her off the street. if you do everything we say, you'll see her again. >> the man ordered her to withdraw $10,000 from her bank account. she had to wire the no bank accounts in mexico. during all of this, she received a text message from her daughter saying that she was safe.

typically find victims online. a dramatic story in the south. >> detectives say they found a missing woman chained up, held captive for the last three months. the woman lived in south carolina and went missing along with her boyfriend back in august. investigators say in the same place they find the woman, they arrested a man and charged him with kidnapping. the woman's boyfriend has not been found. attorneys for the family of walter scott say that they are confident justice will be served. former south carolina police of killed the 50-year-old unarmed black man after a traffic stop last year. the shooting was captured on cell phone video. scott's family joined their attorneys on thursday after opening statements in the murder trial. they're asking for calm once the verdict comes in. >> we know at the end of the day, justice will prevail and the jurors will make shir decision, but we can look around town right here and we can see that things are still peaceful.

>> the family also says the racial make up of the jury matters. there are 11 white people and one black person in the jury. defense attorneys argue slager shot scott after he fled the scene and tried to take his taser. a u.s. park police officer is expected to be okay after shooting himself in the foot. he did it while trying to stop a raccoon attack in rock creek park. mark segraves explains how the attack unfolded. >> reporter: it was thursday afternoon in this community garden just off oregon avenue here in rock creek park when someone saw what they thought was a rabid raccoon. they went up to the park police stables and reported it. an officer came here and encountered the raccoon. they got into some kind of altercation. the raccoon then attacked the police officer who drew his weapon and fired multiple shots. the officer unfortunately shot

is saved by a police officer. the woman's husband and daughter were rushing her to the hospital in oklahoma. they were pulled over the by the cops, when the officer found out what was going objection he jumped into action, performed cpr, doctors say the officer saved the woman's life. >> it looks like she is going to make a full recovery because of the quick way you administered cpr. >> that is the first time it has ever been, like, truly saving somebody's life. >> doctors say the heart attack the woman suffered was so survive it. an amazing escape for a driver who plunged into a canal. take a look at the scene here. this happened in arizona. the driver apparently crashed through a fence before landing in the canal. there were periods of heavy rain thursday afternoon and officers aren't sure if weather was a factor in this accident. the driver was not seriously hurt. with christmas day only seven weeks away, if you're keeping count, the u.s. postal
