mega fitzgerald is at the decision desk with a look at what they're doing. megan. >> today, the justice department announced they will be suspending the monitor locations across the country. more than 500 monitors will be dispatched to 28 different states that includes virginia where polling places will be monitored in fairfax and prince william county. this is all happening because there's concern about voter intimidation. when you head to the polls, can report it immediately to election officials right there at your location. the justice department has set up a hotline to report any possible violations of the voting rights law. of course, the iteam is always looking for you, looking for concerns at the polls tomorrow. issues on the nbc washington app. kaine wrapping up his

julie carey is live from george mason university where they're preparing for his arrival along with other heavy hitters, snul jie. >> reporter: they're setting the stage for vice presidential candidate kaine and his wife. they'll be arriving here after two stops in north carolina today. they'll be joined by the couple they hope to succeed. vice president joe biden and his wife jill will be here with the help to get out vote this election eve. young voters. here's a closer look there at the setup there on the plaza outside of the johnson center. that rally set to start somewhere between 7:30 and 8:30 tonight. getting positive news. the final wasson center survey shows hillary clinton maintaining her six-point lead over donald trump. nats the same edge she held last week after her numbers dipped in the wake of fbi director comey's

landover, the victim was hit late saturday night while trying to cross landover road near dodge park road. he was 29 years old and lived in landover. he died this morning at the hospital. the driver did stay at the scene. she said she wanted to disappear and she contemplated suicide. those are the words of the administration to the jury that found "rolling stone" libel defaming her for the rape on campus. nicole testified today as the jury considers the dollar amount for the damages. she's seeking $7.5 million. since that article, aramos lost her job as associate dean. they told the jurors she no longer has the same relationship she had with the students. the magazine has retracted that article and apologized.

of terrence sterling will be meeting. an officer fatally shot sterling after a crash between his motor cycle and a police cruiser. police say the crash was intentional. witnesses say it couldn't have been avoided. well, right now, people in oklahoma assessing the damage left behind by last night's major earthquake. a 5.0. it appears to have hit the town of cushing the hardes to 50 buildings there sustained substantial damage. well, despite that, just a few minor injuries reported. cushing is about 50 miles northeast of oklahoma city. and this is the third major earthquake to hit the state of oklahoma, just this year. good afternoon, and i mean that sincerely. it is a good afternoon.

all of the much anticipated numbers will be coming to you from the network's brand new election center at 30 rockefeller center. the senior vice president of news specials, he takes us on a rare behind-the-scenes tour. >> reporter: this is the nbc news election center where we will be doing all of our election coverage into the day and well into the night. it's both a studio and monitoring operation for all of the voting going on across the country. just down the hall is the nbc news decision desk. the nbc news decision desk is the heart of the operation. that's where the numbers come in from the 50 different secretaries of state. bringing in the results, combining those with the exit poll and the models we have to be able to project the winner. looking forward is the nerve center of the operation. it whittles down all of the information all of the video

way. >> reporter: but donald trump is not giving up. sending his daughter ivanka to stump for votes in democratic leaning northern virginia this afternoon in manassas. trump's supporters waited hours, some as much as six hours to see him in loudoun county. not everyone cheered him on. a woman in the crowd interrupted the real estate mogul about disrespecting woman. young lady here. >> reporter: many are waiting to see the presidential campaign come to an end. >> it's not what i expected. but, yeah, at least i'm glad it's over tomorrow. people with disabilities say they found challenges getting into some of tomorrow's polling places. as a dozen locations lacked

barrier that could block people who use wheelchairs. days before the primary, the news4 i-team revealed a series of problems at local polling places including wheelchair ramps and doors that could not be open with people with disability. they've declined to specify what fixes have been made since june. in a statement they said we issues from election day and beyond. for a list of polling places go to the washington app and find the i-team report under investigation. depending on where you're voting you may not about allowed to take a selfie. in maryland, it's banded. but in virginia, there's no law that prevents people from snapping pictures. the same in the district where
