program at flower valley elementary school in rockville. a letter has been sent home to parents. to the district now where police are looking for the suspect who shot a man several times. this happened in china town. the victim was found here 6th and 8th streets overnight. it happened right near the verizon center, an area that's full of people during the day. the victim is recovering right now in the hospital.

an ambush happened last night in pittsburgh. the officers were shot as they approached a house to investigate a domestic dispute. after that shooting, swath swath teams rushed to the scene and a a nearby school was closed down. investigators e eventually found two bodies in the house. that of the suspected gunman and a pregnant woman. according to local media, the woman had a protection order against that gunman.

in a gang-related murder case out of prince william county. police are facing an all-time high in the number of homicides. david culver is in manassas looking into the numbers and what's being done to stop the violence. >> reporter: police have made arrests in 17 of those cases they tell me including seven arrests this week alone. those arrests were all part of a significant click. >> their mugshots just about fill your screen. these six people along with a juvenile took the life of 22-year-old edwin chica. >> there was a relationship between the victim and suspect. there was a gang element to it. >> reporter: investigators confirming what the family

two weeks before thanksgiving and a christmas tradition played out in upstate new york. the tree will center was cut down today. it is 94 feet tall. donated by a family in new york. workers used two massive cranes to load it on to a flat bed truck. it's a norway spruce. it's headed on a 140-mile trip to manhattan. the tree will be decorated with 50,000 lights. that lighting ceremony will take place on november 30th.
