winds really increase 20 to 30 miles an hour before 3:00 this afternoon. high school football will be cold tonight. look at the weekend forecast and of course, that check on the expected snow totals for the winter coming up in a few more minutes. more protests all around the country. some like this one in portland, oregon ending only hours ago. we just learned portland police arrested 26 people. became a riot including unlawful vandalism. in d.c., there is also anger as protesters took over the sidewalk in front of of the new trump international hotel. the demonstrations have been peaceful and there have been no arrests. in baltimore, 1,000 people protested outside of the ravens game. police had to close the gate to make sure everyone was safe.

from the university of maryland. look at this young woman's picture. this is 21-year-old caitlyn george. campus police say she is missing. she was last seen on wednesday afternoon on campus. her roommates tell police she may have a black and white camping back pack and a green campus bag. if you know where she might be, call police. an after school counselor is in jail accused of sexually abusing a five-year-old girl. news4's megan mcgrath is live whereth alleged abuse took place. a disturbing story, megan. >> reporter: yeah, eun. a lot of concern following an allegation of sexual abuse at an after school program for children in rockville. police have arrested 21-year-old raul ramos. he was a counselor at the kids after hours program held at flower valley elementary school. ramos is accused of inappropriately touching a

once while he was playing tag with the child. he now faces several charges, including sexual abuse of a minor. now, while the program, the after school program is held here at flower valley elementary school, it is actually a private after school program. it is not run by the montgomery county public school system. anyone with information about what allegedly happened here or anyone with concerns about other children enrolled in the montgomery county police. back to you in the studio. >> thank you, megan. it was a new trial with new evidence but the same verdict, guilty. raminda cower will be sentenced in january. prosecutors convinced the jury she came here from tennessee to help her husband kill his ex-wife. the couple was tried together in 2014 but cower was granted a new trial based on ineffective council. john mccarthy says the evidence

weekend of the murder, they ran a surveillance run the weekend before to make sure the movements of the victim so that, we've seen this before in other contract murder cases. look, they were just as efficient as any contract murder. >> her husband is serving a life sentence in prison but is also fighting for a new trial. the couple was upset about alimony payments to the victim. developing out of the district, we're working to get washington. before 7:00 last night, a man was killed on grant place. we don't have any information on a suspect right now. killed in the line of duty. an officer and volunteer firefighter were not the only victims of this domestic violence attack. >> plus murder in canada. a vacation for a maryland man ended in tragedy. why the police work is not done after the latest arrest. >> look up.

responsible for killing julian jones last weekend. jones was a student at the university of baltimore visiting toronto for a bachelor party. >> both played a role in the death of julian jones. both men have been charged with second degree murder. >> jones was pronounced dead as paramedics prepared to take him to the hospital. a moving tribute at a prince george's county elementary school for a teacher and her daughter w tragic case of domestic violence. back in february, nashante davis was putting her 2-year-old daughter chloe into a carseat out of the fort washington home. that is when chloe's father walked up to them and shot them both. a mural was unveiled outside of bradberry heights elementary school in capital heights on thursday. davis taught second grade there. county leaders keep fighting to end domestic violence. this is a look at the so called big rig fire.

now. it is caused both directions of the 60 freeway to be shut down. authorities say a tractor trailer started this fire yesterday afternoon. the flames spread to nearby trees and brush. it scorched two acres. no injuries have been reported. it now 6:13. we've been following this breaking news. more and more protests over donald trump's election victory. beverly white from our partner station in los angeles tells us about the unrest there. >> reporter: i'm beverly white in los angeles where the protesters who were angry about the outcome of tuesday night's election made their opinions clear here at l.a. city hall. they marched all over downtown but traversing the city and disrupting traffic. the cops have been clearing the streets to avoid incidents where

hollywood freeway blocking traffic for hours. one arrest as the anti-donald trump protesters make their presence and voices heard here in downtown los angeles. from the city hall, i'm beverly white. back to you. stabbings and shootings, a very violent night in the district. police working several crime scenes in southeast. i want to start first with a stabbing that happened overnight, closer to the 2:00 pennsylvania avenue. a man with multiple stab wounds taken to the hospital. i want to go to a double shooting that happened just before 10:00 last night. one man, one woman, shot on the 2800 block of douglas place in southeast. transported to the hospital and then another, another double shooting, two men shot on the 3,000 block of stanton road before the 2:00 a.m. hour.

expectations about what so see for the year to come. >> we're both snow lovers. >> that is not scientific. >> it does play into it whether you want to admit it or not. we're rooting for snow although neither one of us really see the same sort of a set-up as last winter. last winter was actually warm and snowy which a lot of times doesn't seem all that complimentary to one another. january, with all of theow month was barely more than a degree colder than average. december was the warmest december on average and february was warmer than average. we ended up with way below average last year. sheer what doug is thinking for last year. we average 15 inches of snow a winter. at or slightly more than average amounts of snow expected for the whole winter, december, january, and february. unlike last year when we had our number one warmest december on

cold air didn't get here until later on in the winter, we may start off with colder air in december. it will be the first december colder than average in quite awhile. what about today? today we're off to a mild start. 49 now. we'll stay in the 40s to near 50 for a couple of hours. up into the low and mid-60s for a brief time. it will turn windy this afternoon and it is going to be chilly for friday night football tonight. there is the cold front. there is the leading edge of a weekend around here. not a lot of moisture with it because of direction it is coming from. so you only really notice the front going by and increasing clouds this afternoon, once the front goes by, the winds will really pick up. future weather, that ribbon of cloud cover there, that is the front. it is expected to get into the washington area around 3:00 this afternoon and then move south of town for the friday evening plans. so that means it is going to be a very cold friday night and the weekend looks down right chilly as well.

took to the streets clashing in some very heated and violent arguments. dumpster fires, fire crackers, damage to local businesses, people hurling things at police. police having to use pepper spray and rubber baton rounds to break up the chaos and arresting more than two dozen. i'll take you through a few scenes. i'll show you what oakland california looks like. protesters jumping on to interstate 580 halting traffic there. multiple arrests. this was a smaller scene than what we've seen the previous night. now we want to jump to our backyard. washington d.c. outside the trump hotel. protesters outraged saying the president-elect ran a campaign of fear and hate. trump supporters on the scene saying protesters need to accept the results. a more peaceful scene in baltimore. if you were watching the game last night, you saw the crowds outside m and t bank stadium.

police found two men who had been shot there. both victims were taken to the hospital. so far, no arrests have been made. new information now on a developing story out of pittsburgh. we're learning more about the man police say shot two police officers, killing one of them. we brought you this as breaking news about this time yesterday. the officers were responding to a domestic violence call in canonsburg. they were ambushed. they found a man and woman dead inside of the home. investigator as think the man shot the officers, killed his wife, then killed himself. this is what happened after a school counselor is in jail. he is accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl. megan mcgrath is live where authorities say the alleged abuse took place. megan? that's right. the abuse allegedly happened

we had a mild winter last year, even with all of the snow of the blizzard, we finished up the winter way above average in both snow fall and way above average in temperature mainly because of last december. the warmest december of all record keeping here in washington. 11 and a half degrees warmer than average. even with all of the snow in january it was barely cooler than average. in february, back above average. the winter was warm and sunny. this year, though, could be a little different. early this morning. 49 and sunrise out there. here is the outlook that doug put together yesterday on news4 at 5:00, we average, sorry about that. we average 15 inches of snow. he is forecasting 14 to 20. close to average or slightly above. and also slightly above to areas north and west. less chance of a big wallop of a blizzard.
