racist graffiti today after parents called. how did the parents find out about sit in some students last thursday found the racist graffiti in the bathroom, told the parents, and the parents responded today. >> it's disturbing. >> reporter: shawn is upset. tonight his daughter gave him this letter from the principal of sligo creek elementary school in silver spring explaining a racial incident that happened at the school last thursday. a student reported seeing a ra boy's bathroom. source tell news4 it was a threat against african-americans. >> it's really disappointing. i expect better from the people in my neighborhood, from the people in my country. >> reporter: tonight parents are outraged because a classroom teacher failed to report on thursday to the main office. instead, a building service worker saw and it removed it. >> we should have known about this sooner. >> it is shock. the teachers should have reported and it the kids you

school waited four days to tell parents. >> we understand their concern and we want to make sure they know now that their starnts are safe. >> reporter: but what about that day? >> i can't speak to the rationale of why we didn't alert them sooner. >> reporter: the principal in that letter states this is offensive and will not be tolerated here at the school. cowl counsellors are available for students if they need it and happened. well, montgomery county public school officials say this school is safe. students tell me they plan on coming back tomorrow. live from silver spring, news4. tonight, police offering $10,000 for information leading to the arrest ever whoever spray painted a racist message at a church in silver spring. it happened saturday night. someone wrote the phrase, quote,

garden at episcopal church of our savior. a student walkout at montgomery blare high school stopped traffic in silver spring today. administrators were allowing students to demonstrate on the football field but the students told news4 they didn't think that made enough of a statement so they took to the streets. student from northwood and einstein high schools also joined in. police say it was peaceful and nobody was from school excused with a note from a parent. two people arrested tonight in what began as a student protest in seattle. the two men arrested were not students. they allegedly assaulted police officers during an otherwise peaceful protest involving more than 5,000 middle and high school students who walked out of class this afternoon. we got word tonight from donald trump's transition team

lichs. in silver springs, jackie bensen, news4. tonight, residents of lands down learned one of their neighbors will face charges for hitting and killing an infant as the baby's mother pushed her stroller in a crosswalk. mindy schultz and her son tristan were rossing riverside parkway when the driver hit them back in august. witnesses say john miller was looking at his cell phone before the crash and then picked up speed to try the be intersection. he is facing many charges including voluntary manslaughter, he is due in court tomorrow. one woman's ride was over when she threw hot soup on a metro bus driver. he is okay. there was a plexiglass shield around him. tonight dc police are looking for suspect. they say this woman got on bus at the benning road station yesterday, cussed at the driver, and threatened to spit on him when he asked her to pay the fare. police say the driver let her ride anyway, and then she threw

degrees. waking up tony it will be cool but this morning we were in the 20s in some areas. that won't be the case tomorrow morning. tomorrow morning, rain coming down along i-95 at 2 a.m. same thing at 4:00 or 5:00. around 7:00 just scattered showers. give yourself extra time. we'll see clouds. and then breaks in the clouds during the afternoon. all in all, a nice tuesday. watch out for the clouds, maybe a shower early at 7:00. 56 by still on cool side. very nice. 4:00 going for a temperature of 60 degrees. all in all, not a bad tuesday. this is the overall picture. clouds early but clearing at night. with that high around 60. look at this. here's the next ten days. here we have got beautiful weather. wednesday, thursday, and friday temperatures in the mids 60s. thursday and friday really nice. saturday is a day of transition. ahead of a frontal boundary. big front. 67 on saturday.

sunday we drop by 20 degrees. the winds pick up to 30, 40 i were in. and it gets cold. only in the 40s. we were talking about this earlier today thinking we could see a couple of snowflakes on sunday if we get a little colder -- especially to the north. could almost be like lake effect snow coming down. it would be a quick burst, that's all it would be. no accumulations. don't worry about anything. it >> you just can't wait for the first chance to talk about snowe. >> you are coming in on sunday, ifity there is flakes you are working it. >> i'm working the redskins game. coming up, maryland and georgetown get set to renew their rivalry on the court. plus the skins coming off a much needed win. why their head coach says the nfl didn't doing his team any favors.

way to get the work in to play dallas. right now it's about figuring out how to bead green bay. another game to look forward to at the verizon center hardwood tomorrow night. maryland and georgetown. the rematch. first scheduled meeting since 1993. tomorrow night is round two. you don't need to remind the players how big a matchup this is. >> they know. this isn't -- you know, this another game. our guys know and understand that. but then we have to not let our emotions get too carried away. if you can't get emotional or worked up for this enthen you should be doing something else. >> we expect the verizon center to be terrific. hopefully maryland fans got tickets and will sneak in there. their players and our players know what this game means to the fans around here. our guys get it.
