the driver accused of hitting a secret service agent on bike patrol is facing charges tonight. that agent was hit this morning along 17th street and new york avenue near the white house. police say the driver is from upper marlboro and has been charged with driving without a license. his name hat not yet been released. the agent on a bicycle is in serious condition at a hospital, but he's expected to breaking news on the rails. metro removing their rail cars from service because of the safety concern. the problem is with the automatic train control system. the next several days you might notice fewer eight car trains in service. next week will mark one year since metro's general manager took control of the transit

it happened about 9:30 last night at a home in middletown near frederick. the victim unknowingly walked up on the bear and her cubs in the dark. >> the cub ran in the tree and grandma got between the cub and the bear. and the bear went after her. and broke her arm and scratched her up really bad. >> that woman punched the bear a couple times before playing dead. that ended the attack. she has 78 stit a arm. the mother bear was tracked down overnight and euthanized. officials say her three cubs are old enough to survive on their own. the i-team going undercover as police set out the bait. how thieves are driving a dangerous new trend in our area. i'm julie carey at lake ann. this is what's left of the car that plunged into the water last night. a a father and 7-year-old daughter inside.

this year's theme is christmas around the world. tell me about this ice itself. it takes a month to do this. >> a lot of love and labor. it take 12s hours a day to start working on everything. we have 6,000 blocks of ice they have to bring in. they each weigh around 400 pounds. that's crazy to you have to think of the bricks almost. but much heavier. so they come in and they do the detail work. they do everything. it takes them 30 days to complete the attraction. we're really excited to be showcasing christmas around the world. >> reporter: you can see some of the world sites here. tell us about what we have here. >> so in this room in particular, we are highlighting a couple of the different countries christmas celebrations. we have ethiopia, netherlands,
