the scene at deerfield road, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead. now, i just spoke to a woman just leaving her house headed off to work this morning, and she told me that the police knocked on her door last night. she said she didn't hear anything strange. no gunshots at all. but she told me there were six or seven police cars out here and lots of activity now, at this point police collected evidence and they're still working on a motive and of course suspect information. we're live this morning in laurel. back to you. now let's go over to northwest d.c. where a broken water main could impact your drive to work today. justin finch is on connecticut avenue with that. >> reporter: good morning.

crews shut off the water. and we are sleft with slick pavement so you will want to be careful. crews are still working. their work is focused along connecticut between van ness and yuma street. this is right by the metro street and just off the udc campus. water crews have been working here since last night. the repair work here forecast to last between 8 and 10 hours. we know some 50 buildings in this area are reported to have had result of a 12 inch water main break here. do want to tell you, too, that it appears to be that work is ramping down at this point in the area here. you see work is still going 00 notice so if you are in the area be careful of workers as you drive and maneuver in this area. of course it has been brutal overnight with all the wind blowing and that cold water, but it does appear that work is starting to tamper down here and no blockages that we have seen at this point.
