. a mayorland family says it happened so fast, they're lucky they got out safely. app early-morning fire destroyed their upper marlboro home, what they say got them out of bed busy day for president-elect donald trump, the political names expected to interview today for jobs in trump's administration that are sure to shape policy. and i'm lauryn ricketts, it is another brustry day out there. when can we see these winds diminish? i've got that answer along with the thanksgiving forecast coming up.

i'm eun yang. >> and i'm barbara harrison. we begin with breaking news with did melissa mollet at the live desk. a fatal crash in prince george's county right now prince george's county police telling us they're on the scene of a single-vehicle fatal crash, the 13000 block of old fort road in fort washington. they're still trying to determine exactly what happened. they say what they know is appears the driver left the road, hit a creek and ended up in the creek. we have chopper 4 on the up. >> we're learning what may have caused a bad fire in prince george's county. take a look to the damage to the house on largo road, news4's molette green is live and can tell us what happened. what details do you have at this point? >> barbara, good morning. fire investigators left the property about 30 minutes ago. and the family is still here on the scene, assessing the damage. salvaging whatever it is that

they believe that something on the outside of their house sparked the flames and the house just went up in flames. they bought this house that's nestled in this wooded area, right off 202 near old largo road. just two years ago. >> the prior family home went up in smoke and flames before sunrise. >> i'm just trying to process right now. and making sure my mom is okay. okay. everyone, even the family dog escaped the flames. >> main thing i was screaming fire, fire and told my wife and daughter to get out the house. we all got out and tried to find some of the other extinguishers, but at that time it was entirely too much to handle. >> the whole half of the house was on fire, a large fire. >> as reality sets in and in the light of day, they clearly see the heart of their home, the

just days before the thanksgiving holiday. >> this is all material stuff. i have my wife, i have my child. that's the best part of it. >> and which is just two days before thanksgiving. >> yeah, a week. i'm coming to your house for turkey, right? >> and the neighbors have come in right away and offered to help the family. opening their and the family just has the greatest spirit during this tremendous amount of loss that you see behind me. the fire chief tweeted out a short while ago, the cause appears to be accidental. we're live this morning in upper marlboro, molette green, news4, back to you. we're following a developing story out of laurel right now. that's where prince george's county police are investigating a homicide. police say a man was shot and killed around 9:00 last night on deerfield road.

landscaping truck and senior transport bus collided in potomac. chopper 4 was over the crash just before 9:00 a.m. on seven locks road in gainsboro road. montgomery county fire said no one was wearing a seat belt in either vehicle. all four people were taken to the hospital, three were seriously hurt. montgomery county police are investigating what caused that crash. right now we're working to learn when wssc crews will resume repairs on a broke between van ness and yuma streets northwest. crews contained the leak just before 6:00 a.m. they'll be back to fully repair the break. well is it a blustery day out there today. once again, unfortunately we're going to continue with the wind. not only as we go through the day today, also tonight and then some of tomorrow.

there my goodness, absolutely gorgeous. we've got the blue skies. but that's about it. as far as that goes. because we've got the winds northwest 13 miles per hour. now these are sustained winds, we have gusts that are higher than that, 25, 35 miles per hour so that's definitely bringing in the wind chill. even though our air temperature in the low 40s, it's feeling more like the 30s out there for much of the region. and that's the way it's going to be as we continue through the day. now we're going to keep with the clear skies, temperatures topping out in the 40s, it. falling into the 20s overnight. but still brisk and breezy even as we continue into the overnight. now we do have some breezy conditions around tomorrow but we also have your thanksgiving forecast, we'll let you know how that's shaping up coming back in a few minutes. right now, boats are back on the potomac river this morning to search for a missing maryland fisherman. maryland state police say they're in the air to help out. on saturday a boat with four people sank during a fishing tournament.

dead, one man did survive. 52-year-old roger grissom of hughesville remains missing this morning. president obama is back at the white house, after his final trip abroad as president. before he left for peru, he held a news conference where he said he would with hold any criticism of the trump administration once he's out of office, that's even if president-elect trump tries to dismantle his legacy. >> i want to be the office and give the president-elect an opportunity to put forward his platform and his arguments. without somebody popping off in every instance. >> mr. obama did caution that if trump's administration begins to attack american values, he might be compelled to speak up. you can expect a lot of

. 32 people confirmed dead in a terror attack. a mosque was bombed in afghanistan, a man walked into the building, then blew himself up in kabul today. more than 50 people were hurt. this is a shiite mosque, the second time in a month shiite muslims are the target of the attack. no group has claimed responsibility. multiple police officers shot all around the country. in texas an officer was killed.

latest on the investigation. >> this morning be a all-out manhunt for the killer of san antonio detective ben marconi, a 20-year veteran of the force. the cold-blooded shooting yards from police headquarters while detective marconi was writing a traffic ticket. >> i've got an officer down in front of headquarters, i need an ems right now. >> police searching for this man who they're calling a person of interest and this black mitsubishi caught on >> south lot of headquarters building. >> police say detective marconi was sitting in his patrol car when the mitsubishi pulled up behind him. the shooter getting out, taking aim and firing twice, hitting the detective in the head. >> marconi was rushed to the hospital, where he died. authorities say they believe he was targeted for being a cop. >> this was nothing short of an assassination of a police officer. >> the son of a police officer, marconi was 50 years old.

>> he had two children from a previous marriage and grandchildren. >> most families will be celebrating the holidays, sapd will be burying one of its own because of an ultimate act of cowardice. >> jacob rascon, nbc news. a suspect is in custody for a separate police shooting that happened in sanibel, florida. the officer pulled someone over and was the victim of a drive-by. he was shot in the shoulder. i and near kansas city, an officer is recovering in the hospital right now. he was shot during another traffic stop. the passenger, a teenager, ran off and officers ran after him. police said there was a struggle and they shot and killed the teen. police said the officer made it through surgery today. and in st. louis, a man accused of shooting an officer in ambush-style attack is dead. the 19-year-old suspect died after a shoot-out with police this morning. police say he may have shot the

their strike. they've been talking about. those workers asking for $15 an hour. they're not unionized, and some of the janitors, baggage handlers, cabin cleaners and wheelchair attendants make a minimum wage of 8.25 in illinois. air traffic controllers and security screeners would still be working. o'hare is one of busiest airports in the country. handling 77 million passengers last year alone. >> thanks, melissa. this is supposed to be biggest thanksgiving holiday travel weekend in years. nearly 50 million people taking to the air or hitting the roads. nbc's jay gray shows us what you should prepare for as you get out of town. >> the holiday rush has started. >> we're expecting nearly 49 million americans to be traveling more than 50 miles away from home and majority of those individuals tell us that they're going to drive. >> more than 43 million are expected to pack up and pull out on the highway. fuelled in part by falling gas

jay gray, nbc news, o'hare airport. investigators are working to determine whether a toy truck caused a real truck to catch fire. take a look at these pictures from out of state. the tonka 12-v ride-on dump truck was in the back of this pick-up. the family that bought the toy said it caught fire while they were taking it home last week. toys 'r' us says it's no longer selling that toy. it's not clear how the fire started. it's been 11 years, but the nfl is going back to mexico the houston texans are playing there tonight at the historic azteca stadium. the first nfl game in mexico since 2005. and take a look at this -- not often you get this close to a football player right there -- whoa! maybe better that way. look at the size of 98, poor bernie this is the sound engineer, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time at the vikings/cardinals game.

spotty power outages. another thing to mention, brush fire, it's so dry out there you're probably reaching for the hand lotion just because the dew points to mesh moisture are so low. we have an elevated fire risk. this is the feel-like factor. so it feels like we're in the 30s, that's where we're going to stay as we continue through this monday. today's forecast, we maek it into the mid 40s. 46, we topped out at 47 sunshine and the winds will continue to be gusty until about 3:00 or 4:00 and then they'll be breezy as you make your way home. you can see the temperature just a little bit warmer. 49 will be the temperature tomorrow. we'll have full sunshine around for tomorrow as well. looking good for tomorrow. here's the next five days. we're going to be about 46 as we get through today. nearing the 50-degree mark

of how to make it a little bit different? >> sure we did three different types of stuffing. the first one here is more of a savory bread pudding, it has a custard base and that's the one we'll be making here today. the other one in the center is just the traditional stuffing with some sausage, apples, you can put whatever you'd like in there. just a guideline of what you should put. and then the third one here is vegan and glute-free. so it's something a little bit different. >> it sounds very healthy. >> cauliflower, quinoa and couscous. >> you have cream here? >> cream here that we're going to heat up. it's been gently warming up. we're going to slowly whisk that into some egg yolks here. we'll kind of stir it as we're whisking. >> only egg yolks?

>> you don't want it too hot, is that the key? >> the key is you want to slowly add the cream to the eggs so it doesn't overcook the eggs or cook them too fast. >> what else goes in here? >> sauteed vegetables. we did celery, carrot, onion, as well as some fennel in there. >> you cook it ahead of time and add it to the mixture. >> yes, we slowly >> we have our cornbread here which we've baked ahead of time it works out nice if you bake the cornbread the day before. and let it kind of sit and get a little bit stale so it will absorb this better. >> stuffing sh to have a little stale bread. >> i always do, i think it's always better to have it sit out. we'll put the cornbread in with our custard.
