you feel like you're the only one who's been told that. >> it's surreal. not something i was thinking about. it wasn't on my radar at all. if it wasn't for this test we're going to talk about, i don't know if i would have had as easy a course of treatment or prognosis i did have. >> background here. you were 48 years old when you were diagnosed, no family history. >> right. >> no symptoms. >> there was cancer in my -- on prostate cancer. your primary care physician, not dr. shafer had been administering a primary test two years? >> he brought up this test and explained what it was and said it was a test to see. when the first one came in it was a little high. he said, i want to keep giing you this test every few months, four, five, six months, to see what happens. >> i hear that story, doctor, i say that is your best case

we all know it's controversial. why? >> it's controversial because prostate cancer, 1 in 7 will have it but not everybody who gets prostate cancer will die from it. we have to better identify those who have lethal or aggressive cancer to those who do not. >> what is the down side to testing? >> in my mind there is not a lot of downside to someone who knows ei it could lead additional biopsies that could cause additional anxiety. >> you opted for the removal of the prostate. there are other options. why did you fall on that option? >> because that's what my doctor recommended. dni your doctor. >> i am not a doctor. i talked to them and ted told me what he thought.

before i settled on ted. i didn't settle, by the way. >> thanks for that, ben. >> he offered a great deal. the thing is, it's whole new world. you have to educate yourself. that for me was learning what the options were. he told me what he thought the best course of treatment would be for the tumor that i had and i opted for the operation. >> we hear about this operation and the first thing a guy will tell you on the street or at a cot not doing that because there's all kinds of side effects, impotence and incontinence. what has the truth about it? >> there are side effects. when a man is confronted with cancer, it's important to understand what's the best treatment for them. men can have difficulty with your nation and sexual function after treatment for prostate cancer. not just isolated to surgery. today, what we do is try to do a better job recommending active

you if you had to deal with any of the side effects? >> yeah. but i'm doing good. all good. >> okay. >> we'll read between the thumbs. >> i settled for the right doctor. it's a real thing. when you're confronted with the question of, hey, do you want to live or do you want to make sure that your sex life is this best it can be. i opted for wanting to get rid of the cancer and see what happens. luckily, everyths >> we did a survey with dr. oz as this part of men's health. 59% of men we surveyed said they have not discussed the risks and benefits of screening for prostate cancer with their doctor. 54% said they don't know what a psa test even is. what would you say about that? >> that's an amazing stat and upsetting to me as a physician. that's what ben and i are trying

the new spy thriller "allied" features an officer who falls in love with a french resistance fighter. it is breathtaking with amazing costumes. i h the actress and costume designer and the film and fashion. >> you're very thorough. >> that's why i'm still alive. now, we should talk. >> the process and creation, it was so beautiful. >> set in world war ii, "allied" affects all senses. >> my wife is not a spy!

does it help you get into the mind of the character wearing what she would wear? >> yes, of course. the costume is very important. it's the skin of the character. >> in a romantic thriller, brad pitt plays a canadian intelligence officer played by marion cotillard. >> i heard you don't love costume fittings but for this movie, you might have chang >> it was the first time i would run to costume fittings. >> we created everything to give it that gloss. like a definition. >> joanna johnson meticulously designed all the costumes including cotillard's beautiful dresses. >> it had to do two things. it had to have functionality as well as looking super elegant.

the integrity of the period and capture its legendary style. >> the '40s are an elegant glamorous time for fashion. what was your vision for the movie going into it? >> my view was to keep the glamour into it the way they didn't the hollywood films in the '40s. they kept everybody look mortgage lovely than they would have in real life. >> it took months of research which includes screening period films and images for inspiration attention to detail pays off on the big screen. >> everything was beautiful, hats, glasses, shoes. >> even the house bathrobe was beautiful. >> like a little girl playing dolls with myself. >> in the end, it's part of the big picture for the audience as they venture on the film's visual and emotional journey.
