washington app and find out the store hours. happy thanksgiving, everyone. live from national harbor, i'm sharmari stone, "news4." we just learned that police have arrested a man for threatening to blow up an airplane and were getting reaction from his family in maryland. the southwest airlines flight was supposed to fly from oakland, california, to baltimore, but just before taking off the pilots reported an u came back to the gate. he told fellow passengers he was going to blow up the plane and as it would taxi out to the runway, it would blow up. his father says this is all some kind of misunderstanding. >> no, no, it's not like that.

was at work this morning. it happened in the grand central cellar in the grand central terminal. officials say it looked like fireworks. the explosion sent the man running out of the store. he's in stable condition at the hospital where he's being treated for birds. they say the incident had no impact on the service. caught on it starts with a traffic stop. it starts with a stop. man pops out of the trunk with brass knuckles. he was wanted for missing a court appearance. his mother was also arrested. she was the one driving that car. chopper 4 in montgomery county earlier this evening.

outer loop and a car accident caused a slowdown. vdot is trying to help holiday shopper this year through thanksgiving and new year's day. it will retime signals around major shopping centers in northern virginia to help drivers get in and out faster. engineers are using traffic data collected during last year's holiday shopping season to do just that. they're going the use sensors to monitor conditions and make adjustments in real time to keep congested areas like tysons, virginia gateway, fair oaks mall and others. d.c. police are going above and beyond the call of duty now to help deserving families this thanksgiving. and "news4's" jackie bensen shows us these officers have a special connection for those providing. the story new at 11:00.

scattered showers in the forecast mainly during the morning hours and any chance of rain winding down around lunchtime. there's so many turkey trots going on. i would plan for a chance of rain. it's about a 40% to 50% chance of some rain. for friday, maybe a few sprinkles around. ore-wise mostly cloudy skies. as we look to travel weather, it's looking really nice, not pretty quiet on sunday and if you're hear visiting, welcome to the area. currently temperatures are in the 30s and 40s. 46 in washington. annapolis, relatively speaking, kind of balmy, i guess. 47 there. most of our suburbs north and west of town, 47 degrees. that's where we'll find ous at 7:00 a.m. scattered showers for the morning hours. by lunch. time, cloudy and 51 at noon.

and maybe some limited sunshine tomorrow afternoon. 7:00 p.m. in the evening it's cool, it's dry. 49 degrees if you're heading out to get some shopping done. i would probably bring the warmer jacket. i want to show you future weather. now, starting you off at noon, notice how most of us are dry. the white indicating mostly cloudy skies, maybe some sunshine back around areas like warrenton and we are still dry with plenty of clouds across the area. your thanksgiving outlook, a shower is possible. if you're deep-frying the turkey, you could be dealing with a few passing showers. football by the afternoon if you want to get out with family, most of us are going to be completely dry at that point. if you're driving, i know my parents and in-laws are coming in. roads are not going to be an issue. a high on friday of 57 degrees.

some limited sunshine around at times and maybe a few sprinkles as well. as we look to saturday, here's the thing. we have a lot of sunshine moving back into the area especially for the afternoon, but it's going to be breezy and feeling chilly with a high of 53. sunday looking nice. sunny skies, highs in the low 50s, you'll still want to bundle up. 54 on monday. mostly sunny skies. we really need the rain. and it looks like we'll tuesday on into wednesday kind of looking like a soggy wednesday. we haven't said that in a very long time, but, again, for the long holiday weekend, a few scattered showers around. >> mostly pretty good. >> your in-laws won't blame you for rain. >> no, no. just maybe a dry turkey. how about some hockey before
