suicide attack in afghanistan. sergeant first class allan brown died yesterday at walter reed national medical center. he was from takoma park. sergeant brown was injured when militants attacked bagram air field. a suicide bomber got onto the airbase and targeted a crowd that was getting together for a post veteran's day fun run. two other u.s. service members and two u.s. contractors were also killed. tonight a manhunt for a ma accused of shooting two police officers in a college campus in georgia. one of the officers died. the other is in critical condition. police are looking for ming rel limric. the officers responded to a domestic alert this morning. police say they when the suspect opened fire and took off. he was already wanted for kidnapping. in reno nevada tonight a high school student is in critical condition after being

video that shows the opportunity wielding a knife. the 14-year-old was allegedly threatening classmates. the school district officer shot him after he failed to follow commands. police are trying to get more video of the incident. some help is on tap for a community facing another night without suitable drinking water. paris teeter is giving away free water for anyone under the boil water advisory in haymarket. the residents all live north of virginia gateway atlas wall. starting at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow you can stop by harris peters stores in janesville. the stores will be handing out 24 packs of bottles water while supplies last. because of a water main break people in the affected areas are being asked to boil tap water or use bottled water for cooking and cleaning. a new apple store is set to open in the carnegie library.

library on k street in the mount vernon square neighborhood was gifted by andrew carnegie in 1903. the building eventually became home to the historical society of washington, d.c. and events d.c. the district's convention and sports authority. now, according to a story first reported by the washington business journal it's poised to become one of flagship stores. >> i like the idea of preserving the building and not losing it. i think that's something that will bring more people here to appreciate it. i'm sure there is a downside of things that we are losing by having a store there now. >> reporter: the sleek look exemplified by apple's store in union square might clash with

presevered. apple store being here is going the make it worse. >> reporter: the washington business journal report says the lease would be market rate and require apple to give between $1 million and $2 million to offset any losses at the century-old property. an official announcement about the apple lease is expected after tomorrow's board meeting of d.c. events. in northwest, jackie bensen. the district is forging ahead with plans to develop another historic part of d.c. despite a lawsuit filed to stop it. you may have seen save mcmillan park signs along capitol street at the washington hospital center. the iconic towers date back to 1905. they are a centerpiece in a massive redevelopment plan that aims to bring new housing and retail to the area. local residents say the district didn't follow proper contracting procedures. >> it is a historic landmark that's going to be destroyed. so the plan just doesn't make

ann hallette will replace her. a lot of you are talking about this story on our nbc washington facebook page. starting next year united airlines is offering a cheap fare called basic economy to compete with the lower cast airlines. well, it's pretty basic. you are only allowed a carry on bag small enough to fit under your seat like a backpack or purse. no roller bags or anything that has to go in the overhead bin. you will still pay an $25 for the first, $35 for the second. united is only offering these basic economy fares on certain routes. things are looking bright at the national zoo. this year's zoo lights is underway. more than half a million lights have transformed the zoo into a winter wonderland complete with a dazzling light show set to music, there is even a snowless tubing for kids. >> yeah, there is. >> for the kids, doug. >> okay. >> the event is free.
