good morning, i'm eun yang. >> and i'm aaron gilchrist. the coldest air of the season has just arrived. amelia draper is in this morning. good morning. >> good morning. throughout the day today with the wind t will only feel like we're in the teens and 20s. as you're getting the kids ready to hop on the school bus this morning, definitely a warm jacket day u. maybe even the hat and gloves as well. you'll need the sunglasses too. mostly u to pa take a look at this. this is how cold it feels right now when we factor in the winds. they are gusting a the 10 to 20 miles per hour. that's going to continue to be the case. 17 in gathersberg. the current windchill in the district at 20. coming up in ten minutes, i'm going to be walking you through your morning hour by hour and letting you know what to expect as we track the coldest day so far this season.

this season is 46. we're going to improve that by 5 degrees. is it a problem on the roads? >> signal issues here. so we are seeing some delays because of the speed restrictions through those areas. metro on the red line we have gone from a single track to we have a report of a crash blocking one side of the roadway. 95 at 3, this is our biggest issue this morning. it's going to be around probably 8:00 a.m. the right lane shut down because of this tractor-trailer crash. police on the scene. it's slow for a mile and a half as you're headed northbound. we'll have travel times for you. there's a new hot spot in

a suicide. today is the funeral for murdered 16-year-old girl from d.c. brianna was shot and killed the day after thanksgiving. her family raised almost $10,000 to pay or the funeral. police identified a person of interest in the murder. police say evan was caught on video firing a gun around the time she was killed. so far, he's been charge with unlawful gun police are increasing patrols after a string of sexual assault 37 weber is accused of sexually assaulting a woman. it's one of five similar reported incidents since host. they posted a foe with police to talk about ramping up patrols. sexual assault laws are changing in several states.

at 77 when he returned to space on discovery. a second day of heavy snow is falling near lake erie u in northwest pennsylvania. it will not let up for 24 hours. it shut down an interstate yesterday. drivers are being warned to be extra careful. it was a similar story in michigan. 40 cars and trucks slid into each other one by one. look at that pile up. three people died. and we are getting new video of snow in up state new york. >> you don't want to drive in that mess. there are some high winds e blowing there. snowplows are doing what they can, but the snow just keeps falling. when it's finished, as much as a foot could be coating some

>> when i worked in erie, we would get an inch or two of snow every day. it was brutal. so this morning, it's not that bad. but definitely a morning you want to make sure the kids are bundled up. this is the current temperature without the wind. it would stay in your car. a high of 41. you'll notice the winds today, but also plenty of sunshine. dry from start to finish. it's another cold one. lows in the 20s. 28 degrees will greet us. tomorrow morning for lunchtime on your saturday, 36 so another day to bundle up with plenty of sunshine once again. and tomorrow a few degrees cooler than today.
