breaking news this morning, police arresting a man who somehow escaped on the way to jail. this happened after 9:30 last night at brown station road. the man was being taken to the jail from a traffic stop on possession charges, but he got out of the handcuffs and ran away. they found him about 30 minutes later and took him back into custody. more u.s. troops will be headed to syria to help in the fight against isis. u.s. defense secretary ash carter says as many as 200 more soldiers will be sent. 300 troops are authorized to help. the government avoided a shut down on friday night when the senate approved a stop gap

bathroom on campus and now she's telling jackie wilson how she found the will to stay alive. >> reporter: a quick trip to the rest room during her first day at classes turned into a nightmare. a man later identified as nathaniel hart seen her on surveillance video slipped in behind her and turned the lock on the door of the rest room. he said he had a gun and would kill her if she resisted. the 19-year-old absolutely believed him. >> i had to learn how to survive that situation. >> reporter: terrified minutes stretched into hours. she says at some point she gave up hoping a woman would come in the rest room and it would end and that thought, that thought changed her. >> you know what, i need to do what i need to do because no one is going to save me, i have to save myself. >> reporter: for whatever reason her attacker had not taken her phone. when he was

sister believing he would kill her if he caught her. >> i told myself if i die today it's not going to be pieceful. i have to die fighting. >> reporter: by the time surveillance cameras hart was leaving the building policed a drag net. within hours he was taken into custody at a nearby motel. what followed was seven years of legal maneuvering by hart. >> today the judge gave a sentence of life plus 120 years to mr. hart. >> reporter: the now 26-year-old victim plans to start college again next year. >> being able to still be at peace with yourself is something that i'm very grateful that i still have. >> reporter: nathaniel hart originally pleaded guilty in the case and received a sentence of 90 years, but it was overturned on appeal. after hearing testimony from the young woman you heard fr i

took a jury about 20 minutes to render a verdict of guilty. news 4. the man who killed a bethesda teen and his parents will spend the next 12 years in prison. he was driving at 115 miles an hour moments after slamming into a car in february. the parents and their 18-year-old son died at the scene. their 16-year-old daughter survived. before sentencing in court he sobbed and apologized saying he regrets his recklessness. the ceo convicted of murdering his estranged wife will go to prison for the rest of his life. a judge sentenced the man to life in prison plus 16 years on friday. he broke into michelle's home, killed her and then staged it to look like a suicide. the two were in the middle of a bitter divorce and

good morning. it's 6:30 on this saturday. we start with police rearresting a man who escaped on the way to jail. this happened after 9:30 last night near brown station road. the man was being taken to the prince george's county jail from a traffic stop, but he got out of the handcuffs and ran away.
