we're back at 8:40 with a workout trend making a lot of waves recently. called high integral training or "hit" for people who don't have several hours to spend in the gym. and dr. met zell gives us a workout for busy people who don't have time or find that much enjoyment to work out and a way to get it in and get it done. >> that's right. i'm excited about this concept of high intensity interval

training. for people who don't have much time at all. my last book was for people who have an hour. if you have 10 minutes or 20 minutes, people with high intensity kids. >> how is this different than 30 minutes on a treadmill or five minutes on a bike. >> if you only have 10 minutes i can give you 10 minutes. the key thing is you need to talk to your doctor before you do these intense workouts, especially if you're over 40. there are some issues with health but i have people doing it from 5 to 80. >> these would vary from individual to individual and age group. you divide it between 10 and 20 worko workouts. 10 minute what are you doing? >> we start with a 3 minute warm up to get your muscles nice and loose and then catch your breath and 6 minutes of high interval training. this is the workout and the f m filming of our new "iron strength workout"

filmed. i'm doing a squat or jump squat strngting glute muscles, squads, hamstrings, great way to get your heart rate up and streng strengthening your muscles at the same time. this is an example of plank with a push-up and challenges the core mustles and super healthy for that. that's the second part of our hit and the third part is a different exercise, coming. >> what's the prescription for the 20 minutes if you have extra 10 on your hand. >> if you extra time, you take your rest and put in 6 minutes and then 9 minutes of rest. you're only doing hits for 15 minutes. different typing of lunches and an exercise called a burp peee. >> very challenging. >> super helpful. >> three minute warm up and one mie

again. >> in the 30 minute, one minute rest, six minutes of hit and one minute of rest. this is about 20 minutes of hit total to get your full time in. >> what are the overall benefits? are we looking at you're bui building your strength, endurance? what's the overall benefit? >> people may be scared of intensity. i'm here to tell you intensity is wonderful for people to do, build strength and ramp up your metabolic furnace this time of the year with people eating different types of food. it's safe and healthy and can do great things for you. >> new year's resolution, people say, this is a great idea, how do you keep the resolution going? >> we do it across the cities a part of our iron strength program. the community number one, if you can do it with a family member, son, daughter, parents, get them going with a hit
