police are investigating as a possible case of murder. this popular park with police tape today and and people around here are not happy about it. people have ways of resolving differences now. rather than like you and i standing here talking right now, it goes to the extreme. >> a woman emptying trash near the wreck center seized the body of a man behind the building. the victim is said to be a man in his mid-20s. police withholding his name until relatives are notified. investigators from the park police and homicide detectives from prince georges county converge on the scene. they were here for hours. they use their

search through the trash can. they use metal detectors to look for clues in the ground. they use special cans to collect evidence from the fire. they are trying to determine how the man died and how he ended up behind this building. the ground nearby appears scorched. the tracks in the dirt leading up to the scene but it's unclear as to whether or not that had anything to do with this case. the body of the victim taken to the medical examiner's office hopefully the autopsy will provide more clues to this troubling case. >> police identifying the man that was left two people wounded. they are looking for this man. investigators say he lives at the home where the shooting occurred.

that caught fire this morning. even though the fire was right next to the river, firefighters say they didn't have the water pressure they needed to battle flames. mark segraves is live in southeast with more details. >> good evening, this fire was devastating for the dozens of families who not only keep their boats here, but consider this a second home. a place where they can gather with friends and family. take a look at the damage behind us now. just hours after this blaze before they were secelebrating christmas inside. >> i don't know. i don't know what we're going to do. we use this for everything. >> the fire took part of their lives. >> just had a crist miss party for the kids this afternoon.

the fire broke out at 3:00 in the morning in the remote area near the washington navy yard in southeast. by the time firefighters arrive, the buildings were fully engulfed in flames. >> able to knock the fire down before it could spread to the boats docked behind here. >> while the boats appear on to unscathed, the clubhouse and other buildings are a complete loss. because of the remote location of the boat house, there are not as many as you'd find in populated areas. each blue dot indicates a fire hydrant. and the hydrants that are here, are on what is known as dead it end main so they don't have a lot of pressure. adding to the challenges, firefighters weren't a able to draft water from the river with their pumper trucks. >> it needs to really be adjacent to the river. that's not possible with the terrain that's here now. >> as for the fire boats, the tide was too low to get the large to

a smaller fire boat had to come in. >> the only good news for the members of this community, the district yacht club is insured. >> another factor by being in a remote location. nobody noticed this fire and called it in until the building was already flames. the fact there wasn't enough water pressure that it the firefighters needed did not lead to the fire spreading in the house. they were able to contain the fire and officials tell us had they needed more prrks they could have called d.c. water and they have a plan in place to direct more pressure to this area. as for the cause, investigators are still trying to determine that. that's it the very latest here. back to you in the studio. >> that building clearly a lot more than four walls a roof.

may have triggered a water main break. water filled the streets in maryland. it broke at grandview. they have been trying to fix it all day. 17 businesses don't have water pressure right now. but crews hope to have things back to normal in the next hour. a walmart in fredericksburg is the site of two police investigations. the first one on saturday. a man and woman put a a flat screen tv in their cart and walked out without paying for it. officers say this happened just before 3:00 at the store on carl d. silver parkway. two women say someone snatched their wall e ets out of their purses while shopping. and they say that police believe the man then took the stolen credit cards and used them to buy thousands of dollars worth of gift cards from target. republican senator ted cruz doesn't do enough to recognize the achievements of justice clarence thomas. th

african-american history and culture only makes note of justice thomas as the subject of sexual harassment allegations. you may remember anita hill made those in the '90s. in a letter to leaders of the smithsonian, senator cruz suggested they create a separate exhibit that showcases the differences between justice thomas and the only other african-american supreme court justice. a family activity turns into tragedy in maryland. a father and his young son were sliding down a driveway in carol county when they slid into the road where they they were hit by an suv yesterday. one died from his injuries. his son was in critical condition but is now out u and is expected to recover from his injuries. the sheriffs office says it does not expect to file charges against the driver.
