a lot of you are staying in town. here's what you need to know about metro. metro is open tomorrow from 7:00 a.m. until midnight, saturday, sunday and monday. vre will run an s schedule tomorrow and won't be any service on monday. now to a developing story involving the president-elect's daughter and hir encounter with an angry airline passenger. they were on a jet blue flight leaving out of new york this morning headed to florida. according to tmz, a fellow passenger clims he and his husband were kicked off that flight because they criticized her father and expressed displeasure about flying with the trump family. he initially described the encounter in a tweet but has since deligeted his twitter account. the crew can decided tmo

it all started when police came to the block at 8:00 this morning for a suspicious car park the right there in the space where you see the markings. now the victim, the person killed has been identified as 19-year-old terrance thomas. we have a picture of him. he doesn't live far from here, about five blocks. it was 8:00 when police came here on the report of a suspicious vehicle. when they got here, they found the car parked in this block with two people inside. the driver and another man both were asleep and as we hear what happened, when the police roused these two men from sleep, listen to what the police chief had to say. >> as they woke the individuals, the passenger immediately moved to exit the vehicle and simultaneously, these things all occurred at the same time, si

pointed it both at the passenger and the female officer. >> now according to police chief, the police officer who came up on the driver's side then shot the person who was in the driver's seat. two guns were found. one was found on the floor board on the driver's side. the other they found when they took the other person out of the car. that person has not been identified. he's been taken into custody. police are trying to determine if any shots were fired from inside that car. we'll have more on this story as well as talking to someone yo died. derrick ward, news 4. two american citizens are among the dozens injured when a man drove a truck into a crust mass market in berlin. 12 people died. today the market reopened amid-heavy security. the suspect was a known criminal record in two countries continues to illude

matt bradley is at the market now in berlin. >> reporter: the latest information we have from a series of press conferences this afternoon is that it german prosecutors are more certain than ever that the 24-year-old tu nee tunisiaen was the one who perpetrated the attack. if you can imagine, a huge tractor-trailer barged through this crowded market. the reason why not only did they find his identification papers near or inside the truck itself, they actually found his fingerprints in the cab of the truck and that goes a long way toward placing anis at the crime scene. this manhunt has sprawled out to cover the entire continent. police are looking in hospitals and homes and refugee camps for any information and now there's a

town, they put on display holiday items they have been able to recover. >> it's the time of the season when packages with holiday merchandise purchased online get delivered to our doorstep when no one is home to receive them, some of the packages disappear. police put out this display at the german town district station. 42 items recovered, 4 suspects have been arrested in the past two weeks for stealing these items, which were left in packages at homes in german town. >> none of this would have been possible without somebody seeing what happened and calling police to let us know what occurred. there was a ups driver. as a result of that and some good police work following them up, we were able to make the apprehension. >>

a jetblue passenger. >> we have four things to know at 4:30. two of the people injured in the christmas market attack are americans. the man behind the wheel of the truck is still at large. investigators scouring germany where he's believed to have spent some time. here at home, police shot and killed a man in capital heights. officers say they had to open fire after a confrontation with two men who are armed. one of those men died. the other is in custody. the officers were not hurt. now that jet blue pass passenger says he was removed after confronting ivanka trump on a plane. meanwhile the president-elect has named two familiar faces to his

military planes flying low past new york city skyscrapers. what was behind this fly over and why it won't be the last time it happened. >> it's on everyone's mind. will the weather cooperate. with holiday it plans. >> now to a story you'll see only on news 4. . we are hearing about the heroic efforts that went into bringing a man back to life after he was electrocuted. >> he was an electrician. meagan fitzgerald is in rockville with that story. >> reporter: this man was dead for five minutes. he's an electrician so he was inside this building doing electrical work when the accident happened. first responders say the

on a a ladder working on wiring in the ceiling when somehow he came in contact with a live wire. witnesses say he started shaking. that's when a co-worker kicked the ladder to get him away from the electrical circuit and immediately called 911. >> our guys arrived first. they showed up and found he was not breathing. started cpr and delivered f fibrillation one time. they started cpr again and the notice he started breathing. >> reporter: first responders describe why they believe this man was able to be brought back to life. reporting in rockville, meagan fitzgerald, news 4. in mexico the death toll continues to rise u in that fireworks market explosion. now investigators are look iing closely u at some of the safety measures that may have been ignored. that is not the first time something like this has happened at this particular marke

forecast. again, some showers around saturday morning. 50 both saturday and sunday. guys, look at news. . a high of 61. we're back to the 40s by wednesday. national recognition this afternoon for a local man who has become a champion of foster children. >> rob was featured on the "today" show everyone has a story. he's no stranger to news 4 viewers who have seen him in the wednesday's child report. >> we love rob. he has done so much for foster children. i love the fact that they serenaded them today. rob lives on a farm, but he grew up in manassas. he spent his childhood in foster homes until he aged out at 18 and wound up homeless. despite his circumstances, rob finished high school and ginned the military and after that he got ao

his way up the ladder. he became a successful businessman and all the while he's been giving back. now he and his husband have four children adopted from foster care and he founded a nonprofit that we have talked about before that provides kids with items they need in their daily lives. a high school friend nominated him to be featured on the "today" show. >> t so great you brought this story to light. when you realize what he had been going through, what struck you after seeing him again after all those years? >> i think his strength and the fact that he par laid his situation into helping other children and creating this nonprofit. and by his adopting children in foster care that needed homes. it was a total strength. >> he helped your daughter too. in what ways? >> we found out about it on facebook. she wanted to bring it to virginia. he's become a role model to help the youth not just by my daughter, but other children
