two people were killed in the county in a span of 24 hours. >> and we're working to get more information about carrie fisher, actress best known for her role in "star wars" films had a heart attack on a flight to los angeles. >> news 4 at 11:00 begins with breaking news. >> we are following several breaking news stories on the night before christmas eve. we begin with a deadly crash in northeast washington that happened after police started chasing a stolen car. news 4s jackie benson got to the scene. jackie, what can you tell us? >> reporter: doreen, just a terrible situation. take a look over here at what is left of that vehicle. now, that car was being driven by a man who was taken from this scene and pronounced dead. this all started earlier this evening. police were pursuing a vehicle that they suspected of being carjacked a few days earlier.

broke off the pursuit, but the vehicle continued speeding throughout this area. hitting three other vehicles, the last one being that wrecked vehicle you see over there. at the base of that tree. now we are told that police have taken a suspect into custody. the suspect described as a juvenile. we have very few details about the original carjacking, the one that led to this incident where police earlier tonight spotted this vehicle, pursued it for a while, we are told broke off the pursuit. but that carjacked vehicle continued, vehicle continued speeding hit three cars. the last car unfortunately a fatality here, live in northeast washington, jackie benson, news 4. >> jackie, thank you. police in fairfax county are, police there are sont scene of a shooting investigation. authorities there have had their hand full. this shooting was in the 7500 block of mark drive, falls church. it came hours

investigations in the county. two feel were killed in the span of 24 hours. news 4s shamari stone joins us from the scene with what we know about the latest case. shomari? >> good evening, doreen, right now fairfax county police are searching for a white male dressed in all black. that's what they want us to make sure we put out. now he ran towards falls church high school. there is a crime scene tape behind me here. a web of crime scene, yellow tape, and police are gathering evidence right now. they have flash lights. and the shooting happened around a couple hours ago. again we are near the 7500 block of mark drive. the suspect shot someone, but police have not told us if the victim is a man or a woman. we do know that that victim is at the hospital right now. with life threatening injuries. withdraw ma t trauma to the upp. back out here live. fairfax county police are continuing to investigate this. we'll bring you details as they become available on our

washington app. live in falls church, i'm shomari stone. news 4. >> shomari, thank you. fairfax county police trying to figure out a connection between two deaths. a young man was murdered at his home in springfield last night. hours later a woman was found dead a couple miles away in burke. news 4s, darcy spencer, has more on those investigations. >> fairfax county police are investigating the connections between the two murders and between the two victims. they say these crimes are not rand random. fairfax county police are investigating two murders, a little more than 12 hours apart. a 22-year-old man found dead in his house in springfield, a 22-year-old woman found dead behind these homes in burke two miles away. police say the crimes may be linked. >> they just appear to be known to each other. >> reporter: the first victim, a northern virginia community college student. a family member came home and discovered him murdered. trauma thi

that was about 8:15 thursday night. detectives went in and out for hours, gathering evidence. looking for clues. a next door neighbor heard loud noises in the home yesterday evening. >> heard multiple bangs, it was, you know, loud to the point where you could almost feel it. through the house. through the wood. >> sad. >> it's okay. i'm sorry. >> neighbor sonat -- senait berhe, took the news hard. >> he helped with shoveling, groceries, have to carry groceries he was helpful. >> reporter: as police were investigating they got a call for a second victim. the body of a woman found before 9:00 off cordwood court. trauma to her upper body. a 22-year-old of springfield. >> a homeowner in the block, right here behind me, observed a woman leaning aga

the rear portion of his backyard. he did not recognize the woman. and she did not appear to be moving. >> reporter: police tell me they do not have a lot of strong leads in the investigations. anyone with information that could help, is asked to call fairfax county police. in burke, darcy spencer, news 4. legendary actress carrie fisher being treated at a hospital tonight. sources tell nbc news she had a massive heart attack on a flit to los angeles. fisher charmed a generation of movie-goers with her portrayal of princess lea from the star wars movies. nbc's correspondent is in los angeles with the latest. >> reporter: after landing at lax, carrie fisher was rushed to a local hospital according to law enforcement officials. passengers say the accident appeared to stop breathing and was taken off the plane by emts after suffering full cardiac arrest. >> i don't know what you are talking about. >> reporter: remeed
