morning. that is where a missing yoga instructor's body has been found. this is according to her family. we're waiting for police to confirm her death. justin finch is live in northwest d.c. where the missing woman's car was found overnight. what's the latest? >> reporter: an ji, good morning. yes, that car clearing just a short time ago and on social media mccauley's family is already grieving after posting that her body has been found. let's take you to that post from facebook. her brother bryan sharing a post to her facebook reading in part that tricia is gone. they have found her body. thank you for all your work, support and love. but we have no official confirmation yet from police. now, mccauley is 46 and was a well known d.c. area yoga instructor and close to midnight news 4 was on scene as police took in a person of interest who reportedly matches a description of a man investigators were after and also found that car

on the 2200 block of n street northwest. now, looking now to a map laying out where all these developments took place, mccauley was last seen at her home on the 2000 block of north capitol. her phone was found along 4th street northeast. ore car found near 22nd and n streets northwest. that car again was taken away a short time ago. police say this investigation is still very active and ongoing. they do have a person they are questioning. also too, an update from police is due out later this morning. we will be there and bring you details on air and online as they come in. back in to you. >> all right. we'll check back with you. it's 6:03 and friends and neighbors have planned a candle light vigil at 7:00. it's at 3rd and elm streets northwest. it's the same park where mccauley gardened and

this. specifically he mentioned veteran officers who may think about the call for service before they think about turning on their cameras. in montgomery county police say two children under the age of three were found weak but still conscious after their female caretaker left them in the car. police say this happened yesterday afternoon at the white oak shopping center in silver spring. they say the kids may have been exposed to carbon monoxide. the woman who left them alone has not been charged. the black box from a russian military plane that crashed, they say they have the flight recorder from that plane. it crashed into the black sea minutes after taking off from sochi this past weekend. all 92 people on board that plane died. investigators say terrorism is not considered a factor in this crash. president-elect donald trump is taking aim at the united nations. in a tweet yesterday he questioned its effectiveness saying it has quote, such g

proposal that can change the way you find your way around the commonwealth. >> the senator is proposing a bill that would keep cell phones out of drivers' hands. it's currently against the law to read text messages while driving but you are still allowed to talk with the phone in hand. while many people we spoke with say this proposal would make the roads safer, some people are concerned about the impact on those who hold their phone to use it for a gps. >> it's about 22 miles. most of the times i do actually use my gps to verify where the traffic is. >> well, the proposed bill does exempt car mounts like the one you see in this video meaning you can still see your navigation system as long as it's mounted. people sustained minor injuries after their jet airways plane slid off a runway in india. the plane had 154 people on board when a technical glitch

degrees before it ended up in the grass. michigan homeowners who were evacuated from their neighborhood because of a massive sink hole will have to wait at least two weeks to go back home. crews have started to pump sewage from that hole into a detroit area river to prevent flooding. the sink hole opened up over the weekend taking down part of a house. officials think a sewer failure under that damaged home caused the problem here. covering montgomery county right now, a barber who has been in business for more than ooyears has passed away. he operated a shop in the middle falls mall. he had many famous customers but it might be what he did outside of work that endeared him to so many people. on weekends he would donate his time and talent to help homeless men with their grooming. he was 89 years old. well, the woman who discovered dark matter has died. ru

back to work today. >> let's start with wtop's jack taylor in for melissa with some breaking news this morning. >> unfortunately about 4:00 here this morning we had a pedestrian hit in the laurel area on route 1. both directions are closed off between the icc and contee road. the crash occurred near academy road. traffic relatively light. you're going to find yourself rerouted in the area. northbound diverted at the icc. southbound near contee road. wanted to get this in real quick. i-70 eastbound, alternate route 40. crash on the left lane getting by. our reporter is on scene with more details of our accident in laurel. >> reporter: police aren't releasing a lot of details but a vehicle hit a pedestrian this morning. no word yet on that pe
