>> she last saw her christmas day. her body and the fan arrested in connection with the case found late last night in northwest d.c. we find mark segraves a at that location right now. >> the body was found inside her car here on m street not far from georgetown. the suspect was found inside in it cvs. when police approached the suspects, he surrendered without a fight and gave the keys to the white car parked out front. when police searched the car, they found the body. >> we do not believe at this time that the suspect knew the victim. >> police say over the course of about 14 hours the suspect drove the car to multiple locations including several cvs stores. at this cvs on 14th

>> her name was jackie cole and she was a fixture along 14th street where e she lived for many years. this morning at about 6:30 a.m., she was crossing here in the crosswalk on the corner of parkwood place when she was struck. tonight police are looking for the hit-and-run driver who killed her. they closed to investigate the fatal hit-and-run. they have identified the victim as 54-year-old jacqueline cole. she lived a block away at public place located at 3500 14th street northwest where people knew her as jackie or ms. cole. >> she was a sweet, young girl. she had her ways, but she was always smiling.

metro wants to make sure you stay connected underground. paul wheeltfield is installing free wifi at all underground stations. metro has been testing free wifi at six major stations for several months now. the ex. pangs is expected to begin next summer. most stations will have why u fie installed by the end of 2017. the entire project should be finish ued some time in 2018. authorities are now examining the black box from the military plane that crashed on christmas. officials say they have already begun listening to the flight recorder, but it is too early to say what caused the crash. crews continue to search for bodies and wreckage at that crash site in the black sea. 92 people were aboard that plane when it went down including members of a russian military band. the group was headed to syria to entertain russian troops before the new year. now that christmas is over, you may want to

the structure. state officials say u lake ice in much of the state is deteriorating rapidly. ice that has thawed and refrozen will only be half as strong as fresh, new clear ice. the big dig out has started after a major winter storm in the northern part of the country. hundreds of flights have been cancelled and large stretches of highways shut down. as ron mott reports, many people are still trying to get home from the holidays. >> reporter: the storm has spared the windy city, it's dry but colder than yesterday. but elsewhere the storm is packing a mighty punch. >> how am i getting out of here? >> reporter: after a winter wall line up trapping families inside, snow drifts so massive they blocked front doors. a difficult back to work

then we get into thursday. here's where we have little bumps in the road. we have another frontal system that's going to pass through on thursday. ahead of the front before daybreak on thursday, temperatures are going to be fairly warm. the green is representing rain. we have maybe a little bit of mix in the pink and a little wet snow here in the white. we could have some areas just to the west of i-95. mid-morning and early afternoon before we get some clearing on thursday afternoon. temperatures on thursday are going to be in the 40s as well. then we head into friday, temperatures in the upper 30s. then the winds are going to pick up. they will be with us on friday. gusting up to 30 miles per hour. windchills in the 20s. it looks like the wind will be breezy on new year's eve. if you're headed out, it should die

sanders show on hbo. he made a few public appearances in 1998. it's been a rough holiday weekend on the roads in virginia. state police released some sobering stats. police tell us there were ten deadly accidents across the commonwealth. and four people were not wearing seat belts. as we head toward new year, drive sober, buckle up and drive without distraction. a mother faces several charges after police say she was driving drunk and handed a sippy cup of wine to her 5-year-old son. the 27-year-old was arrested friday in ohio. she was allegedly driving erratically before police pulled her over. that's when officers handed a sippy cup filled with wine to a 5-year-old

a vandal damaged dozens of high end cars overnight on christmas eve. security cameras caught the man walking through the nissan lot near san diego. the man scratched and punched the bodies of the cars, slashed tires and destroyed electronics. at least 31 brand new vehicles were damaged. each are valued at more than $50,000. the total damage estimated between $300 and $400,000. there's no word yet on a suspect. mall madness during one of the bidsiest shipping days of the year. what really started this panic inside a packed mall where people were shopping and why some believe our smart phones may be making things worse.

the mall in indianapolis. police say there were several fights involving hundreds of teens. no one was seriously injured. this video shows the panic at the hamilton police mall in tennessee. . teens set off fire crackers inside the mall. people thought they were gunshots and began running for cover. surveillance video helped police track down the suspects. investigators believe the taens set off the fireworks to cause a distraction while they stole from a store. there was panic in new jersey after people thought a gun was fired inside a mall there. our sister station in new york found out, all of those incidents may have been sparked by social media. this shaky video of others dog
