two door cadillac coup and much of the fire on that focus was the rear end. it melted and buckled out back. i want to take you to video from just a short time as ago fire crews worked to extinguish this fire. this is a two door cadillac with maryland plates here. and traffic was closed in both directions as a result with firefighters trying to put out this blaze overnight. at this point, there are no word of any injuries or how this car got here in the first place. the fire department has just left here a short time ago. we have one police cruiser still on scene holding this scene, perhaps waiting for this car to be towed away. and, again, back live here, this luckily was put out before rush hour got going here. so you won't have this thorou thoroughfare open if you are commuting through here. a p

in upper marlboro. now maryland stale police are trying to figure out how he died. it's possible he had a medical had emergency in the middle of pennsylvania avenue last night. then he was hit by a car. but at this hour, it's not exactly clear what happened. well, this morning, a mother is wrestling with the fact that she will never see her daughter again. police in howard county say early yesterday morning, the mom heard scuffling in her 16-year-old daughter, charlotte's bedroom. they say that is when the suspect, a teenage boy whose name police have not released shot charlotte zaremba and her mother before trying to take his own life. she is in critical condition. the mother has been released from the hospital. one man that knew charlotte and her mom said says he is struggling. >> it will affect my daughter for the rest of her life. whatever she does, there is going to be some piece that she is going to remember her friend,

he was carry ago number of firearms with him. police say it seems he was angry after the separation with his ex-wife. it's 5:04. d.c. police are investigating how a man fell to his death from his hotel room. 23-year-old john leonard is who fell. he fell at least ten stories down a boiler shaft and died. at this point, it's being investigated as an accident. two fairfax county families are starting the new year after a home. they were displaced after this part-time complex fire. 85 firefighters total responded to that scene last night. it took about 20 minutes to put the flames out. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. right now, d.c. police need your help finding this 11-year-old girl. breaniya todd was seen yesterday afternoon. the 11-year-old is 5'1" with black hair. if you've seen

thp this july, the minimum wage will be from $8.75 per hour to $9.25. d.c.'s minute among wage will go from $11.50 an hour to $12.50 an hour. virginia's minimum wage is currently $7.25 an hour, the same as the federal minimum. in all, 4.4 million americans will get raises. that's good news. and the new year extends the smoking ban in gaithersburg. the previous ban did not include vaping or e-grits. e-cigarettes. now all forms of smoking are banned in all public buildings and spaces. there is a fine involved for breaking the new law. the move is meant to help protect the health of residents. also starting now in 2017, d.c. aes ban on styrofoam products getting stricter. for the past year, restaurants will be banned from using styrofoam. but they could use any other material that they wanted. that ch

stop looking last night. john phlegm sg a beverage distribution coverage executive who was piloting that plane. his wife, their two teen sons and two neighbors were on board when it went missing thursday and family members say they had attended a cleveland cavaliers basketball game. adam, back to you. >> thanks. officials have still not identified the three people who were killed this weekend after two small planes crashed in midair. the faa is investigating what caused that crash which happened near dallas yesterday afternoon. investigators say both planes were flying under visual flight rules and were not in contact with air traffic control. they say one of the planes crashed into a storage facility. the other plane crashed on to a road in had a populated area he. no one on the ground was hurt. there is a manhunt happening right now for this guy, james morales. he's an inmate who escaped from a detention center in rhode island. police in that state in massachusetts are now looking for him. they say they found

they believe he stole. morales is still out there. he's a former army reservist. he was charged with stealing 16 guns from an army reserve center and faces child rape charges. also right now, police are trying to find a man connected to four people's deaths. the lexington county sheriff's office says jorge lewis chavez was somehow involved. they did not say what he did, who the victims are or how they died. dylann roof has a competency hearing scheduled for today. the federal judge overseeing roof's trial set the hearing for today, a federal holiday, after he underwent a psychiatric evaluation this weekends. roof could face the death penalty for the 2015 shooting where he killed nine pa trish ners at an emanuel ame church in south carolina. it is a busy

and when students return to howard high school where we are, they're going the be wearing black in memory of a student who passed away all too tragically. take a look. it was about 2:00 a.m. yesterday morning when suzanne zaremba, the girl's mother heard a disturbance coming from the girl's bedroom. she went to check and she was met with a teenage boy with a gun. he shot suzanne and then shot 15-year-old charlotte and turned the gun on himself. suzanne zaremba was wounded. 15-year-old charlotte was pronounced dead in the hospital a short time later. the gunman is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. this community is in shock. take a listen. >> how do i teach other people to -- for this not to happen to them, to -- so these other girls that are all talking, you know, so they're not
