is dr. natalie azar. 2016 was a pretty big year as far as innovation. >> it was, every year we hope to see good stuff. we did. >> what's interesting here is there is so many people -- i have friends who have osteoporosis. you're told you can never build back bone. you can slow the erosion. there is something new that may change that? >> think of bone as a living organ. you're constantly replacing it, building it and losing it. there has been another drug on the market for a number of years that just builds bone, doesn't slow down the rate of loss but it's very expensive. this is a medicine that they're hoping, there was a new drug application in the fall of last year. they're hoping for approval in march. a daily injection which will purely build bone. daily self-administered injections i have to say that. the results were fantastic in terms of

calcium deposits in the artery of the breast. what the study did was compared then women who had calcifications in the arteries on the breast and then a calcium score on their heart. there was almost a 70% correlation. the point here, is that the calcium in the heart is a predictor for heart disease. you can be picking up incidentally you say to the woman, we see calcification in your breasts you may want to go back to your healthcare provider and say, yes, follow this up with more testing. do i have risk factors for heart disease can i intervene now with medication et cetera to prevent, the development of heart disease. >> whenever you hear the word alzheimer's, everyone's desperate for some kind of treatment. there's something new on the horizon? >> i don't want to tout it as new and revolutionary. i would say this
