we have learned the name of the man shot and killed by howard county police. authorities say he is william mattis. police say they were forced to shoot at mathis after he broke into his ex-wife's home this afternoon. according to police the woman called 911 saying that she had a protective order against her ex-husband and she tho t

officers confronted the man inside the home. they say he choked one of the officers and was struggling with two others. >> arriving officers discovered the rear glass door shattered and made entry into the home, where they were confronted by the suspect in a violent encounter. >> mathis died at the scene. two of the officers had to go to the hospital. they are expected to be okay. the woman and her three young children were not hurt. support is pouring in for a mentally disabled teenager whose brutal beating was broadcast on facebook live. a gofundme campaign called "let's show the chicago victim love" had a goal of raising $10,000. as of tonight it's at $92,000. police in chicago say four people tortured the victim and taunted him with profanities against white people and president-elect donald trump. the suspects face charge
