i'm storm team 4 amelia draper. temperatures still in the single digits. when we get above freezing, coming up in my forecast. terrifying new video shows the exact moment the suspect in the airport shooting opened fire. i'm darcy spencer live in southeast washington where family members are gathering to draw attention to an unsolved murder case. the live report ahead. news 4 begins now with storm team 4. >> all right. so we're starting to defrost after that snow storm. if it's not one thing, it's another. now we're tracking the possibility of rain. thanks for being with us.

it's another storm team 4 alert day and we have when you need to pack the umbrella. >> that's not going to be for awhile. the big weather story continues to be the cold temperatures. right now 22. winds out of the northwest at 16 miles an hour. it's really blustery out there. look at what that does to the airport temperature. take a look at the feels like temperature now. feeling about eight degrees in washingt washington, three in gaithersburg and seven for you in leesburg. as we head into the overnight hours and early tomorrow morning, it stays bit early cold. you want the warm coat for the kids, the hat, the gloves and scarf. take a look at the feels like temperature tomorrow morning around 7:00 a.m. it feels like ten. as you move throughout the day, the winds not a big issue, so it won't be as bad but still feeling like we're in the teens by the mid morning hours. again, tomorrow another cold day. we're still below ez

yet. i'll talk more about that coming up with my full weather when we finally warm to freezing. >> we had sunshine today. it was cold in the sun but when you got into the shade, it was like -- >> it was bit early cold. >> yeah, our team coverage on the storm team 4 weather alert continues a little later in the broadcast. derrick ward talks to folks how they and their pets are keeping warm. tonight we have some shocking new video for you that appears to show that deadly airport attack in fort lauderdale. tmz published it, and we want to warn you it's pretty hard to look at. you can see the gunman wack up from the left side of the screen right there in what looks like a blue or green sweater and pulls out the gun and starts shooting. people nearby upset. you can see the cluster of people there duck behind any carts that they had there in front of them. five people were killed in that shooting on friday. the fbi

this afternoon saying it's aware of the video we saw, but can't confirm it's authenticity. kerry sanders is in florida as the suspect's brother is speaking today. >> reporter: this morning suspected shooter santiago faces charges that could face the penalty. he is charged with committing an act of violence at an airport. authorities are yet to say if santiago shared his motive but he told investigators after the shooting he planned the attack buying a one-way ticket from alaska. >> the early indication is there is no specific reason that he chose fort lauderdale. >> reporter: in november, he was admitted to a mental health center in alaska after telling fbi agents he was hearing voices and that the government was controlling his mind, making him watch isis videos.

it was a call for help but the u.s. government failed him. >> when they heard that, they send him to the security hospital, you know, but only for four days. four days, you know what four days? nobody change his mind in four days. >> reporter: authorities there confiscated his weapon at the time but later returned it. >> there is speculation that this is the same gun. >> shots fired in this building. >> reporter: now new images emerging of the chaos and fear inside the airport as we learn more about the victims. michael oehme was killed, she was wounded. >> she was shot to the right shoulder through and through. she was on one side of the chairs, her husband was face down and passed away shot in the head. >> reporter: also killed, terry andres of virginia who worked at norfolk and olga

celebrate his 90th birthday. >> she's just a walking angel. she's a wonderful person. >> that was nbc kerry sanders reporting. it's been a very painful week for one family in the district trying to cope with the killing of a loved one. somebody stabbed him to death on new years eve and darcy spencer is in southeast d.c. near the crime scene tonight, darcy? >> reporter: erica, we're here on east capital street near where this crime happened by benning road and if you're familiar with the shrimp boat, that's a landmark. i'm going to step out of the way. you can see family members still here setting out teddy bears in the area they lost their loved one. they were out here today trying to draw attention because this is an unsolved murder case. it was right around midnight the start of new years eve when a passer by found his body in the street in the 4600

capital street unconscious and unresponsive at that time. he had been stabbed. he died later at the hospital. he's identified as 25-year-old antoine butler. family members are looking for answers. his mother just gave a very emotional plea for the killer to come forward. >> whoever did it, even if you ain't mean to do it, you need to turn yourself in. the only one you need to answer to is god. is god. [crying] >> and how i'm looking at it and putting all of it in his hands so my son can have justice for who did this to him because i don't got a son no more. >> it's about bringing justice and bringing his family to closure, closure my brother is gone. my brother gone. he ain't going to be replaced. he can't be replaced. so we need that

we've got breaking news out of prince george's county. police working a murder investigation on hill park drive and dunlap street in temple hills. somebody called police around 2:30 this afternoon after hearing gunshots. police have a man who had been shot who we understand died at the hospital. detectives are working on some suspect information and motive right now. we do have a crew that's on the way to the scene and we'll bring you more details on this story and on news 4 later today. >> a family in prince george's county has got to find someplace else to live after a fire just gutted this house. look at the windows and the doors on this place. this was about 9:00 this morning. the home is on fair green court in upper marborruw. two adults and a child are displaced. firefighters still trying to figure out how this got started. firefighters in thei

very cold conditions. they got the call around 11:30 last night. you remember how cold it was last night. that home on madison street on northwest, we're told the fire was in the walls of both floors of that house and it was just spreading to the attic. everybody was able to make it out safety. no word on how that fire got started, either. some northern virginia business owners have until the end of the month to clear out their shops. it's likely part of the overall renovation of the landmark mall in alexandria. store owners tell news 4, they had a feeling closing the mall's may -- macys store on thursday was expected to help. from screenings and tests to yoga and

forecast and it is a tricky forecast. i'll break it down when i show you the ten-day. currently we're in the teens and 20s. mid 20s. 22 in washington. 18 in gaithersburg and 21 leesburg and clear skies tonight and a clear start tomorrow morning but bit early cold at the bus stop. keep that in mind for the kids. 14 and a high of 29. a few warmer than today. really no melting going on. we're below freezing, not as windy but we have more clouds in the forecast. a mix of clouds and sun throughout the day tomorrow. the commute looking good. might need sun glasses but at the bus stop again, make sure the kids are bundled up. probably still not a good idea to exercise outdoors. heading to the convention center today, i saw snow and ice covered sidewalks. it will be dry and have the warm jacket. for tuesday a high around 40. hereis

pick back up throughout the day on tuesday but that will help boost temperatures to above freezing and we have plenty of clouds in the forecast but look at tuesday evening. notice the pink here. this is a chance for freezing rain and showers during the tuesday evening commute. something we'll keep a close eye on. 7:00 p.m. and mainly north and west of washington and then we have showers around tuesday night on into your wednesday morning. the day on wednesday is looking dry and really not that bad despite plenty of clouds, look at the high of 56 and maybe some more showers wednesday evening. i'm keeping thursday dry. highs in the mid 60s and 50s on friday. we're starting to go back down towards the end of the week temperature-wise with a chance of rain. on saturday, chance for showers around during the day and maybe freezing rain saturday night. this weekend forecast, next weekend this is not set in stone. this is a very tricky forecast. the commuter models are
