in terms of, you know, not winning or -- people would lost. well, i never felt like a loser. i never felt like a loser. first of all, says it wasn't mine to lose. i had never won. most importantly, i felt like a winner because i had this amazing part to play, and i was so excited every day to go and play this part, great material. >> i want to hear your take. you just lived in the moment. it wasn't about what you were going to get from it. you loved your job, and that was enough for you. >> that was it. i loved playing this part. >> sam, what did you learn from susan about winning and losing? >> i think what struck me about susan is the fact, like she said, she was grateful for the opportunity. she wasn't railing against the fact that she didn't win, she didn't blame. she embraced the opportunities that were presented to her, and that's a big part of losing is how you perceive it, and she decided not to make it this thing that defined her. >> there were two things that touched me about your story. one is that young kids were sending you their trophies because -- so you must have felt like a winner.

if you have uchd it so many but you have my ballet trophy. >> it was amazing. these two little girls from pennsylvania who sent me -- little sisters sent me their ballet trophies, and i wrote to their mother, and i said i can't keep them. why don't you come here to the studio with the little girls, and we met, and it was lovely. randy sent me his oscar. >> even more than that is the reason that you guys were joined together was because of your son. you taught your son lessons without even realizing you were doing that, right? >> uh-huh. yes. and during the course of the interview, and thank you so much. oh, there is andre. >> cute. >> yeah. >> what did you ask her son? >> i asked basically how her losses and her approach to losing impacted him and, you know, he gave i thought a profound answer about how he respected that she got to go to work every day, she didn't -- she didn't let it define her. she had her brief moment of crying, and then she moved on
