intelligence community. amid a growing number of democrats who plan to boycott the inauguration. this morning mounting tensions between president-elect donald trump and outgoing cia director john brennan. brennan in an interview with the "wall street journal" unleashing on trump for his comments last week after unverified and unflattering information was leaked about the president-elect. was i leaker of this? no, brennan told the "wall street journal." he took aim over these comments. >> i think it's a disgrace. and i say that. that's something that nazi germany would have done. >> brennan telling the journal tell the families of those 117 cia officers who are forever memorialized on our wall of honor that their loved ones who gave their lives weren't nazis. trump seemed to blame brennan for the leaks. brennan firing back. it's when there are allegations de

or a lack of ine to the groundty. that's where i think the line is crossed. it's the latest clash in what has been an ongoing feud between mr. trump and the intelligence community he's about to leave. after officials determined that russia tried to meddle in the u.s. election. a point mr. trump only recently acknowledged. there's more fallout this morning from mr. trump's war of words with civil rights icon congressman john lewis. more than 30 democrats now sa i saying they won't attend the inauguration on friday. trump meeting with dr. martin luth luther king jr.'s son. lewis sparked the controversy by telling nbc's chuck todd he doesn't see trump as a legitimate president leaving trump to lash out on twitter. honoring dr. king's legacy on monday, congressman lewis didn't mention trump but

flight radar from the military suggested the plane did a u-turn and headed over the southern indian ocean never to be heard from again. now after years of searching with helicopters, ships, underwater drones, the search is being called off. the most expensive and complicated search in aviation history is over after nearly three years the hunt for malaysian airlines flight 370 has been called off. crews have been searching for the aircraft ever since it v vanished during a flight from kooul koo kuala lumpur to beijing. on board 239 passengers and crew members. the search run jointly by governments which spent mor than $150 million trying to locate the missing plane released a joint statement saying in part despite every effort using the best science available, cutting-edge technology, as well as modelling and advice from highly skilled professionals who are the best in their field,

locate the aircraft. >> the mystery is one unlike any other. if they suspend the search before they find it, then it may go unanswered. >> reporter: in july of stwift 2015, the first proof that mh 370 was in the indian ocean. a wing washed to the shore of reunion island. a small amount of debris recovered from the plane has done little to shed light on what happened. >> i think when you look at amelia earhart and the titanic, this could be along those lines. >> reporter: they found pieces of wreckage in africa but small pieces. a support group for the families of the missing passengers have been pushing to continue looking for the plane moving the search zone further to the north. they released a statement

question. did the gunman act alone? this morning in california they'll unseal an indictment that says the gunman's wife knew what was about to happen. this is the first video of the rest of noor sal man a relative telling nbc news that agents took her into custody. she's been charged with aiding and abetting the terrorist attack and obstruction of justice. >> it's a matter we continue to take very seriously. it was always our goal and we said from the beginning we were going to look at every aspect of this case. >> she's very sad. >> but law enforcement officials told nbc news she became a person of interest after telling officials she had been with her husband when he bought ammunition at walmart and drove with him past the club once before the attack. she later told the "new york times" i was unaware of everything. this morning the family is saying they're shocked and surprised at her arrest because they've been cooperating with law enforcement. salman's attorney calling her innocent. writing in a statement salman had no foreknowledge nor could she predict what omar mateen intended to do that night. pulse survivor chris hansen said salman's arrest doesn't change much for him. >> does it make anybody feel better? i'm not sure. >> reporter: she's expected to

noor salman was arrested by the fbi on monday and charged with aiding and abetting the attack and obstruction of justice. officials say she was with mateen when he bought ammunition and drove by the nightclub. her attorney claims she is innocent and had no prior knowledge of her husband's plan. and former astronaut gene cernan died. in the decades that followed cernan became a passionate advocate for further space exploration. he was 82. here is is a story that will have people talking. what could be new evidence in the more four decade old d.b. cooper sky jacking case. coming from a group of scientists who have been looking into the mystery. nbc national correspondent miguel almaguer has the story. >> reporter: good morning. the only unsolved sky jacking in the u.s. history. the fbi couldn't crack the case.

evidence. >> the periodical table of clues, say scientists, suggest cooper had access to a manufacturing company that made airplanes like the one he jumped from. perhaps a company with a connection to bone. >> we're not exactly sure if he worked at boeing. but we think potentially a supplier was dealing with boeing. >> reporter: the 1971 unsolved mystery begins with a neatly dressed man who identified himself as dan cooper and hijacked a northwest airlines jet releasing passengers in seattle in exchange for parachutes and $200,000 in ransom. airborne in the pacific northwest, cooper did the unimaginable. plunging from the back of the plane into history. some cash was found along the columbia river in washington state. there's never been a trace of cooper or his true identity. >> what we found the right rabbit hole to look down.

researchers at oregon state university ran through numbers people over 65 and they found it lowers the chance of dying by about 11%. it keeps you healthier. this is research from the university of miami. people who work past 65 say they're in good, very good, or excellent health. mental sharpness is a big one. even people who say they're working just for the money, at least to begin with, say it helps keep them clear. and the biggest one, i think, it reduces isolation. we looked at research from age wave, they say if you're isolated in retirement, it can have the impact of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. >> really? >> unbelievable. and for those of us who love what we do, it gives you some sort of an identity. which is nice. >> let's talk about financial benefits. as we pointed out some people may be looking to earn a paycheck or have disposable income but a laundry list here. >> that's right. let's talk about the money in your retirement

reflects it's more of a choice. if you say you're working past retirement. it's like a slug. working in retirement seems to say this is something that i'm choosing to do. and when you're thinking about what to do, you want to cast a wide net. what we know about people working in retirement three out of five are doing something new. retires are three times more likely than other people to be entrepreneurs. but it's not something that you can just decide you want to do the day before you retire. you got to make a plan, you should be laying the groundwork for this. at least five years in advance, and brush up your tech skills, if you can. >> hang out with teens or grand kids in the area or take some classes. >> free tech education. go to a local community college. learn those skills that will be useful. >> yeah. >> the other thing here consider a breather. how long do you wait or how soon do you jump back in? >> we note on average people are taking

a story of a young kid who has a father on one side and a father figure on the other. and not knowing who to listen to, who to pay attention to. it's timeless. and i think the idea of adding music to it is a beautiful stroke because it lifts up everything. it is a beautiful story. >> tommy, you helped make the soundtrack from the movie popular. why did you believe this could work on broadway as a musical? >> i had always been connected to it because of bob and doing the soundtrack at sony at that time. this amazing coming-of-age story, with kids from an italian neighborhood, kids who are just down the block in the black neighborhood. my growing up in the bronx and bob and i sitting around one day and said, this has got to be a musical. and that component was the thing that lael changed the whole dynamic, to make it what it is now. >> a lot of power here, a lot of great resumes
