saturday for shortness of breath. he is responding well to treatment, and his doctors are pleased. >> reporter: former president george h.w. bush hospitalized in houston after experiencing a shortness of breath. overnight, his office chief of staff saying he is in stable condition and, quote, doing fine. president bush is now 92 years old and needs a wheelchair to get around. his public appearances have become increasingly rare over the last several years. his most recent, 11 days ago, appearing alongside family at a houston texans playoff game. earlier this month, the family spokesperson told nbc news the 41st president and his wife, barbara, now 91, would not be attending friday's inauguration, siting their advanced ages and, quote, all that entails. the couple who celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary also didn't attend president obama's inauguration in 2013. this latest hospital stay marks the fourth in the

be happy, it's glad. this morning on today's food we have a one pot pot roast with a slow cooker. >> curtis stone is the chef and owner of gwen restaurant and butcher shop in hollywood. curtis, good morning. >> good morning. how you doing, guy? >> great. what are we making today? >> a mexican style pot roast. a tin of tomatoes. easiest thing in the world. chipotle, garlic and oregano. cumin. >> you pronounce it cumin? >> cumin. how do you pronounce it? >> cumin. >> so you blend that up. it's a spicy tomato broth effectively. you get the point. it comes out looking like this. then you start with a big piece of pork shoulder. season it generously. >> right. >> salt and pepper.

you don't need too much pepper because y same on the other side. it's a big piece of pork. i've taken the bone out. make sure you get -- the good thing about a shoulder it's inexpensive because it's usually tough. a little bit of flour. then into a nice hot pan with a little bit of oil. you throw it in like this, al. >> you're going to brown that off? >> brown that off. once you get a nice crust on it we'll go up the front where i've cheated and done one. you want to get the caramelization until it looks like this guy. >> oh, yeah. >> see how that's beautiful and brown. in the same pan, throw some peppers and some onions. you're going to develop some of the flower. >> got incrunthe crunchy bits. >> pick up your tomato pixtumix all right,i st tt .
