ku klux klan style hoods and donald trump masks, others carrying signs calling trump a fascist. this group has been protesting every night this week. so far no reports of any arrests. meanwhile, the president and vice president-elect are kicking off their inaugural festivities tomorrow. >> donald trump will participate in a wreath laying at the arlington national cemetery in the afternoon then he and mike pence will appear at a lincoln memorial welcome celebration. >> streets around that area will close in just a couple of hours. news 4's thshomari stone with t leadup to the inauguration. shomari? >> reporter: good evening, i'm at the foot of the arlington memorial bridge and at 3:00 a.m. it will be closed. it will be closed for tomorrow morning's commute so plan accordingly. on the other side of the bridge is the lincoln memorial. right now crews are working, making the final preparations for tomorrow morning's inauguration concert.

in virginia. it happened just about 90 minutes ago but the commonwealth's lethal injection drugs have sparked a lot of controversy. rickey gray was convicted of robbing a family in richmond in 2006. he tied them up in the basement, slashed their throats and set the house on fire. a mother, father and two little girls four and nine years old were killed. his defense team filed an appeal saying the state didn't give him enough information about the drugs it would use to kill him. they argue that the sedative midazolam has failed to render some people unconscious and it could torture gray to death. a lot of the big pharmaceutical companies stopped selling lethal injection drugs so states like virginia started getting them from so-called compounding pharmacies which are not subject to the same federal regulations. at the live desk. chris lawrence. new tonight, we've learned a man from sacramento, california, is the one behind bars for allegedly shooting at an off

intersection of third and u streets in northeast about 9:45 this morning. police say edward bowling, jr., shot at the off duty officer who had been following him. that led to a chase throughout northwest d.c. fortunately nobody was hurt. new video from d.c. police appears to show the shooting of a grandmother in a wheelchair. 68-year-old vivian mara was killed monday morning in the 2400 block of elvins road southeast. video shows a gunman chasing another man there. it also shows who authorities believe is marrow in her wheelchair. they don't believe she was the intended target. marrow's family says she was a fixture in the community and handed out treats to children in the neighborhood. investigators hope the video helps them catch her kill er. next, a local mother taking a child out of her

d.c. police reports reveal the complex where two smaller buildings are in the process of being demolished was burglarized not once but twice in two weeks. on the weekend of january 7, someone broke into the construction equipment shed and stole the keys to a bulldozer and backhoe. a week later the burglars came back and used the heavy equipment to vandalize the school's soccer field, playground and security cameras. they also used spray paint to deface the brick walls of the school built in 1923. >> i didn't even know that happened. i can't imagine. i live a block away and i didn't even know that happened. >> reporter: students have been relocated to another school during the multiyear project but are dropped off and picked up at bancroft each day. parent lisa spencer expressed dismay upon learning of the costly damage estimated by police at between $200,000 and $250,000. >> i don't know who is doing that but they run around the city vandalizing the playground. >> it's not

vandalism has delayed the project which was scheduled to be completed in summer of 2018. tonight, parents have concerns about safety after somebody fired a bullet through a day care window in falls church. more bullet marks were found on the other side of the building. police say multiple shots with fired thursday. one came through the window of a pre-k classroom at bright horizons on leesburg pike. children were in the room taking naps when it happened. nobody was hit. we spoke to one mother who has pulled her son out of the center. i'm so thankful that nothing happened and what would the conversation be if something did? >> bright horizons declined to talk to us on camera but told us they aren't letting the children on the playground and they say they've increased security. the washington redskins could end up winning their trademark battle without going back to court. today the supreme court raised doubts about whether the government can deny trademarks
